Title: P.C brigade wins again......
Post by: Debs. on 09 July 2008, 13:11:11
[rant]

The Admins/Moderators of one of the other (engineering-subject) forums I participate-in has just banned jokes, pictures and ALL 'banter'; lest it 'offend' any P.C/female members and open the forum up to "action" (unspecified). :o

I protested to them (of course), saying that I and other female 'forumites' to whom I had spoken, were certainly NOT offended in any way by the usual 'tone' of the forum`s content...but to no avail. :'(

What kind of a "grey and shallow" society are we allowing ourselves to be become: too frightened of offending a 'notional' P.C/prudish social-group so that we may no-longer enjoy normal social interaction with other adults.

Long may the 'fun & banter' here on OOF continue! :y

:o :o :o I think it is a sad reflection of our liberty being taken away! What a sad predicament to get ourselves into. What is comming next?

I am seriously considering a move overseas in the future... I just cant see how the pc movement benefits many?

Opinions all?

Bl00dy PC idiots! >:( >:( >:(

If I was you Debs, I would tell the admins and moderators of your forum exactly what you think of them and their PC policies and become an ex-member. ;)

I don't mind banter and ribbing at all, as long as it's clear there is no malicious intent.

If Mrs Slocombe hadn`t said: "The mere sight of my pussy drives him mad!" all those years ago; where would innuendo be now?.....and I`m unanimous in that!;D

Fed up with this nonsense, it worries me that some time soon we could be getting locked up for merely speaking our minds.  Nazi party ring a bell?  P.C behaviour goes against our own inbuilt human nature to express ourselves on any given subject without having to watch what we say.  Life is going to be very dull shortly...

This is surely the real point --- the problem shouldn't lie with what is said but how it's meant.  Good grief I am short(ish), fat(ish) and bald (no ish there I am afraid!) --- if I didn't have a sense of humour I could have locked up half the world by now !!!

You are correct debs. The P.C world is a very drab and soulless place.
If P.C was a vegatable it would be a potato.If P.C was a colour it would be magnolia......terribly sorry old boy, I am a little tired.!!! :P :P :P

Rather a Bombay potato. Probably wo'nt be allowed to say that soon either. If cooking Indian food whilst not being indian ever became illegal i'd be at the mercy of the courts!!!
Does seem a little silly though. ::)

They should have just banned all women, that would have prevented any offense. :y

The sufragettes have got a lot to answer for. Before that incident with the kings horse women were more than happy cooking and cleaning for their men.
Seriously though, giving women the vote in 1918 (only for women over 30) was the final straw.
Before this a woman was never heard to say "sort your own lunch out " or "I have a headache". :y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y

Tell you what I don't like - I don't like being stereotyped.  We've reached a situation where everything female is good and everything male is bad.  And also ethnic - good, indigenous population - bad.  And I only use those terms because the PC brigade have made it impossible to use "black" and "white" without incurring abuse.

Let me make it quite clear that although I am a white, British-born man:

- I do not beat my wife
- I do not keep a pit bull terrier
- I do not thrash my children
- I do not molest other people's children
- I have never forced myself sexually on any man, woman, child or animal
- I do not drive in an agressive manner designed to intimidate all other road users
- I do not swill beer and fight on the streets on a Saturday night
- I do not chase after every female I encounter, nor do I stand around as part of a group and leer at every female that passes
- I do not like football
- I do not use the internet exclusively to view pornography
- I do not vote BNP

On the other hand:
- I do help my wife with the housework and shopping (could do better)
- I do not hold any religious, racial or sexual prejudices whatsoever - people have to prove to me that they're objectionable in their own right before I start treating them badly

I will edit this list as I think of more things I should have put on the list.

And I'm sure that most British men would say the same thing about themselves were there an opportunity to do so without being instantly branded as a racist male chauvinist paedophile pig.
