Title: Breakdown
Post by: Ralph on 18 July 2015, 20:21:37
My Omega has just let me down for the first time in 5 years.
After a 40 mile trip at around 70mph, as I slowed down at my exit roundabout the car died.
I managed to coast to a safe parking space and tried to re-start it without success so rang my breakdown service.
After about 30 minutes he arrived and plugged in his code reader which reported no codes.
He turned the key and the car started first time and seemed to be running normally.
I set off for home again only to breakdown 10 minutes later in the middle of my home town.
I waited for around 30 minutes again and it started up again, I decided to take it to my usual garage about a mile away.
I got there ok but as I was taking some shopping out of the car it died again.
Any idea what  could be the cause of this.

From previous posts, it sounds like the crankshaft sensor. Have you done the pedal test yet? http://oldsite.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

As above ...... classic crank sensor failure.  :y

Bite the bullet & fit a genuine Vauxhall sensor ..... pattern sensors fail

How much is a genuine one likely to cost?

Rob will know.  :y

If you have or know someone with a Trade Club Card IIRC  they were £50-ish or normal retail around £70/£80 ...... but willing to be proved wrong.
