Has anyone ever had the 3.0R with the H6 (Boxer) engine? ??? Any good? Anything to look out for? ::) I bet changing the plugs is fun! :-\ ;D
Here's (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-Subaru-Legacy-3-0-R-auto-R-127k-Full-Service-History-MOT-April-2016-/331611905023?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d359c1bff) an example. I'm not thinking about this particular car so no need to pick this one to bits, just after an overview! ::) ;)
TIA! :y

A mate of mine had one. He was always complaining about its' thirst, and he's not the type to moan unless it was really bad. Don't know much more than that, TBH.

3 litre flat six. Exactly the same as a Porsche Beetle. :)

I like it, Sir Tig. :y
A left field choice and not another dreary old BMW 3 series...............................................or Signum. ;)

Bet that sounds pretty good, well it has huge exhausts anyway 8)

Got to agree, interesting alternative, if you like it / one, go for it, looking no more thirsty than a Mig............ :y :y

It's not diesel, Mr Tunnie. It uses proper fuel. ;)

Very well,I have driven one that's gassed and nice car all round, reliable too although I've not had the pleasure of working on it,does look a little packed in the engine bay though

Good to hear. Always liked looks of these. Not cheap though :-\

Tony at Wim told me, when asked what marque he never sees, that he never sees Subaru's on his set up ramp.
That was a few years ago at an open day, but with a view to reliability in the suspension dept...
-
The mechanicals are bullet proof, they handle and go very well. Thirsty and can apparently be a pita to work on though.
-
A bit sloooooow though. Lovely looking car, quite comfy. :y
-
The 3.0R estate ticks all the boxes for me as an Omega replacement. :y
-
Just noticed something...
The (Legacy 3.0R) has a 0-60mph time of 8.2sec
The (Legacy 3.0R Spec-B) has a 0-60mph time of 6.5sec
The Spec-B would be the perfect all rounder, Shame they are so rare though.

Looks good in black LINK (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201507034862526?atmobcid=soc4) 8)

Have considered one of these a while back , be interesting to
hear Mr DTM 's opinion on them :)

Not much to say about Subarus really, there a bit of Marmite car with pretty dull and uninspiring lines.
For me though, the boxer engine is not great in a cruiser as its far more at home in smaller sportier things and is a bit rough around the edges with some interesting power delivery quirks!. I also have big concerns with the Subaru power trains, its all to common to see Imprezas with goosed transfer boxes and gearboxes.
Plus they are not nearly as comfortable as many rivals :y
So try one and go for a good drive first :y
-
That's not good then , think we best stick to our trusty
Omegas ;D

There's a pretty decent owners forum, by all accounts so maybe a good omega replacement in that respect too.

Took one for a spin today. I must say it did put a smile on my face. No real issues maintenance wise as i think they are quite robust.
Spark plugs are quite doable just like a beetle. Higher mileage vehicle do use oil due to the flat design of the engine.
Thing that put me off is the price and availability of some of the spares. Until recently wheel bearings (bolt on hub style) were dealer only.

That would suit some on here! :-X ;D
