Yes it will work on a 2.6/3.2.
But why, the cartridge works perfectly well. :)
-
i don't like the cartridge and i was hoping that it wil fit on my 2003 omega.
and it is leaking. :'(
-
Where is it leaking from did you use a genuine filter? I did mine and have had no problems at all

If fitted correctly, and torque'd correctly, pattern or genuine, wouldn't make a difference. :y

I have had some patent ones leak because the rubber seal was not brilliant >:( and I couldn't get it any tighter

. Than 25nm or is it 15nm. Never had one leak yet.
-
That screw insert aint cheap either now , think i paid about £12 for mr stealer >:(
Best mod ive done so far , no more stuck on caps and the spin on is cheaper :)

Spin on to touch then tighten 3/4 is correct but it dripped and I tightened them over full turn so changed for another patent one and okay on both times.

Think your confusing a spin on canister with the cartridge insert.
Spin is 3/4 hand tight, cartridge is inside alloy housing then torqued up.

Nope its you as op wants the spin on filter ;)
-
Over tightening the ally cap won't make it seal any better than to the correct torque will because it seals on the O ring.
-
Okay I am not suggesting over tightening the Ali type at all as that is what destroys them mainly >:( It seems that people have got he wrong end of the stick the OP was talking about changing the ali type to the older canister type and I asked where the leak was from after he had changed to the earlier type and said that I have had them leak before because of a faulty rubber ring and said even over tightening it didn't stop it I had to change the filter before it stopped leaking and it was on both times patent filters. Hope that clears things up. ::) ;D
-
i had one leak after fitting by a professional garage (ok it was national tyres). a half moron can mess up a cartridge but even a total moron can't mess up a spin on.
-
i want de spin on. and forget the cardridge.
some people say that the mod.. only is for de older engines like the 3.0 and 2.5..

No , thats incorrect. . . 2.6 & 3.2 are easily converted , recently done it to my 3.2 MV6 . . much better with a spin on IMO
-
The filter insert ones are the work of the devil >:(
Try getting a housing off that's just spinning >:(
You won't regrets doing the mod to the spin on :y
-
second best mod i've done, second only to hilpers boot release mod http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90516.0 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90516.0). spin ons are cheaper too.

I changed cartridge filters in my V6 for 10 + years with no problems at all ....... I don't know what the problem is with them

Seems to be a mass panic about changing these,
I'm with you on this, if they are fitted and torqued correctly, no problems...

correct .... along with the ability to undo it in the first place ::)

This is where the problem lies as many have been done up by a gorilla so they won't come undone and when they do they break the casting in some way, as in the case with mine it was cheaper to change it than to replace it with one from a stealer. :y
-
Have to agree i've never had any issues with the cartridge filters either and i've owned V6 omegas since 2004.
-
have you ever had the joy of a spin on though ;)

Yes I have, my 3.2 is fitted with the cartridge, works fine why bother to change it to a spin on :-X
-
To the OP - yes, you can do it no problem on 2.6/3.2 :y
To the spin-on lovers, I have one car (3.0) with spin-on and one car (3.2) with cartridge/element type.
Without doubt, the later cartridge type is my preference, so much easier and cleaner to change, and saves dunking the crank sensor in oil as well.
If I was going to mod one, it would be the 3.0 to the cartridge type.
-
Fandanglecartridged >:( Old school spin on what you need :P
-
Cartridge on the V6 without doubt. :y
-
Spin on , you wont regret it ;D

you won't regret not fixing something that's not broke ............. ::) ::)
-
It was broke ::) And it was torqued up correctly thrice before ::)

maybe I never had problems cos my torque wrenches stayed in my garage during oil changes ........... ::)
-
I have the remnants of the housing in the shed as a reminder what a pig it was removing it ::) The cap is in 3 pieces , shattered while trying to turn it ::)
The whole housing is turning on the other car so thats going to be fun removing too >:(
