the screen went on a Toshiba equium that I had since windows xp was new . I have now another toshba. my query is would I somehow be able to transfer some photo,s from the old laptop onto my current machine. if "yes" please tell me how. :y

Your old laptop will have either SVHS, yellow RCA or HDMI output so you can plug into a television.
Get yourself the correct lead, plug it in then use the TV as a screen for the laptop :y
If the old laptop has a cd / dvd burner, burn off onto a few discs of plug in a usb drive and transfer the pickys and other stuff using that :y :y
