Was coming back from Derby today & so was winding up the Mig to a comfortable pace (90) when a 54 reg TD Passat left me for dead :-[
What's the torque & BHP figures for one & what size engine would it have? Would it be a V6?
-

There are several options, including V6. Usually badged differently.

The Touareg and Phaeton have had a 5.0L V10 TDi for several years.

All were Tdi. 2 power levels for 2.5L V6. Several power levels for 1.9L, overall best was 130hp variant though. More like 145hp stock, 185hp remapped!

I took out a brand new Skoda Octavia 1.9 TD Tiptronic, I believe they are the same engine in the Audi and Passat, Pissed all over my Carlton Diplomat on all aspects of performce. So if that was me in a 1.9 being impressed, would like to see the 2.5 in action.

2.0 Auto, not as quick off the mark as the 5 speed manual CDi before it.
The Carlton, like the Omega seems to come into its own once on the move though.
If you were to do a TopGear airstrip drag race with a 1.9TD Passat and the 2.0 Manual Carlton I reckon the Passat wins hands down to 60, but then I reckon the Carton would claw it back. would be interesting to see the cars differences @ 60, 90 and 120 Mph in Mph and distance appart comparisons.
Dunno where my money would be on the 1st to 120 Mph, Passat I reckon would win the 1/4 mile and the 1/2 mile could be either car partially based on top speed.

2.0 pre cat manual GLi would eat the tractor Diesel, I had one it was quite fast but not as fast as one I once delivered, few hundred miles on the clock - rush job - get it there as fast as possible.
I am not saying how fast on a public forum
