I've searched and the biggest problem seems to relate to the motor working, mine that isn't the case.
The seat is at the highest position, which isn't great. I've pulled the switch from the seat and have 4 wires.....
Red 12v
Brown Negative
Grey with red
Grey (possibly with another colour, can't really see)
Both grey lines have 12v on them unless the switch is pressed. This seems a little odd.

Sorry, CD cloth. Heated (doesn't work), with the height adjust on motor only.
I've just tested the motor, I suspect it's RIP as it's getting 12v with the switch. On the plus side, I wound down the seat using the adjuster and the 13mm socket someone had kindly left in the hole for me. I realised why it was there. When the seat is up, the socket is snug down the hole, when it is down, the bar means you can't get the socket out. ;D So five minutes of playing a get a cheap 13mm socket out, still another for the collection. I then pick up my 1/4 chinesium socket set (read thin, thin walls) and wind the seat down as far as that 'less snug' socket allows.

Take the seat out, you can get to motor assembly easier. Can't remember if you can get a meter on the motor though.
At least its not Elite seats, they are tight for space!
*Any* noise, specifically an initial clonk, from motor, indicating jamming?

DONT TURN ON IGN WITH SEAT REMOVED! You'll bring on airbag light.

The motor is connected by a blue two pin plug, I've stuck the multimeter straight into the back of this plug and it's getting 12v one way on the switch and -12v the other way. at the moment there isn't the slightest sign of life in the motor what so ever - I've had my head down there whilst operating the switch. I know what you mean about the clunk, the passenger seat has that issue - which I'll address on another day.

Cycle the switch repeatedly until it finally relents ;)

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Unfortunately, repeatedly trying the switch hasn't worked. I've tried tapping the motor and the mechanism to no avail.
Now it's not full height, I'm happy to live with it until I have some more spare time.

Motor shot then. Could be just the brushes - take 'em out and see if they slide nicely. Not sure if replacement bushes are obtainable anywhere....
CD seats must be free from anywhere, so try and get a replacement, and swpa over the motor to yours.

Or swap the motor over from the passenger side and let Mrs Deviator have fixed height. ;) After all, it's more useful/safer and she does drive it! Although if they are that cheap, it might just be easier to swap them.
