Ive driven a 2.0 dti a while back and seemed ok but is this the best one to buy or there is the choice of a few engines :
1.8
1.6
2.0 dti
Anything to be aware of or are they pretty bullet proof . Anything from 2000-2004 year .
:-\
-
The first thing you need to be aware of is you're looking for a car that is eleven to fifteen years old, so it will likely be clapped out. ::)
-
I'm not a fan of the Dti and I've seen several 1.6's with oil consumption issues leaving the 1.8 as the one I would go for :y
-
I had a 1.6 that never need topping up in three years.
-
Clapped out , no way its a vauxhall ::) ;D
Thanks henry , there are loads on egay and for a reason i guess :( My mate had a 1.8 and it ran ok . I think the 1.6 would be under powered for such a size vehicle anyway .
-
Well....if you can get one for 99p, what's to lose?
-
GSi or VXR ;)
-
They are all shite.
The Zafira-B does appear to be a decent refinement of them, with better diesel engines.
I really cannot find anything nice to say about the Zafira-A. Apart from the bigger petrol engine ones (which are thirsty), they are underpowered. They don't handle that well (obviously), and they are bloody uncomfortable.
-
Oh, and even my supposedly top of the range Elegance model is devoid of any buttons to break up the boredom of driving it.
-
I agree with The Boy. get a Zafira B. In fact I have one for sale. :D

Still can't shift it then? :P
To quote EMD, I'll give you 99p ;D ;D

Can't even give it away. It's been on ebay because the fees are cheap but I'll stick it on autotrader and see how it goes.
-
The 1.6 is under geared. 3000 rpm at 60 mph. I like mine, does what it needs to. Does use some oil as a know fault with this engine but not excessive. If only too be used around town no problem but constant motorway needs a bigger engine. I will upgrade to a 1.8 'B' sometime next year

Full of scammers though, more so than eBay, so need to be careful :y

I get the impression that the Zafira is a bit dull. :-\

I wouldn't say that there are anymore scammers on Gumtree than Ebay or Autotrader to be honest, but you're right Tunnie, it's a bit careless not being careful. ::) ;D

Its stunning at doing what it is designed to do well.
There ok, not sporty (although the VXR makes a pretty decent fist of it)

:(
Zafira B , cant see any of them being cheap and a quick look shows there are just as many problems with them :( Absolutely loads of A and B up for spares and repairs and a lot with no service history at all ::)

How about a Frontera, Mr Emd?
Is TB willing to part with his?

Always, but not for 99p. That wouldn't cover the shoe leather to walk around town looking for the bloody thing.
-
There are huge amounts of them around as it was the best selling people carrier for several years. As others may say, not the best. I get on fine with mine so will buy another.

I wasn't particularly impressed with my daughters 1.8 petrol, to the point where I wouldn't have one. The Qashqui tractor she has replaced it with, is a more expensive vehicle, but has been much more reliable (she currently does about 30k a year and has had no major problems) and it is much more refined.
-
But isnt it like any other car that does not get looked after , like never serviced and just used and abused its going to fail at some point ..just like an omega :-\ The thing is with the zafira is that its just a practical car used for shipping people about and moving stuff :-\
-
My daughters was regularly serviced by a good friend of her partners who runs a local independent garage specializing in Vauxhalls. Whether you get a Monday morning, Friday afternoon or a midday Wednesday car is the luck of the draw, but you can only judge it on what you've got and experienced!
Most cars will have some non-service issues, just that some will more than others! The best I've personally known for this is somebody I know who has had several Honda Accords and all he has ever needed is service items apart from a wheel bearing that went at about 140k miles.
