Never really played with nesting on VMware's flagship ESXi hypervisor before, as its not a supported option, but learn I must.
So I currently have ESXi 6 running on a cheap ProLiant, running 4 VMs - 2 x ESXi 6 (yes, as VMs :o), one centos 7 and one win7.
How do you rate my chances of moving the Windows VM to one of the VMs running ESXi, then moving that ESXi VM to run under the other ESXi VM....

Ah 'dangle berries', cant do it via vSphere client without powering off the VMs (as no shared storage), need to configure the web client.

Now I can understand broad norfock, full on Glaswegian, highland twangs, and smattering of le froggey,
But I haven't got a clue about all that techy gibberish ;D

Not just me then! It may be the OOF topic Ive least understood, ever.

All I can say is, once you figure it out in hope you write us a guide and post it in the correct section ;D

So I was the only person who completely misread the header?... :o

The last I used VM Ware was a VM I built as Windows XP on a Max OSX, that was a loong time ago ;D

I often can't type it right. I frequently get raised eyebrows from the ladies in the office when I broadcast email I need help with ESX

Probably about the last time I tried this stunt (nesting hypervisors) ;D, which failed miserably then :(.
Looks far more promising today - its just currently moving one of the ESX VMs running the Windows VM into the other ESX VM, I might even finish my homework early :). Only its taking an age to move :(

Probably not helped by the fact the Windows VM has decided it wants a gazillion patches downloaded and installed, as I'm trying to move it ;D
-
Its only gone and worked :o
So I have a Windows machine running as a VM on ESX, itself a VM running on ESX, itself a VM running on ESX, itself running on ESX on a low spec server.
Need to see what performance is like once the Windows updates are finished, other than that, homework complete, I might be able to sell this idea to mgmt. for training with the only outlay being a reasonably beefy server.

I thought it was about, clandestine meetings, in secluded, areas of Essex, wif laydees, ???.
Or something similar :)

Or that well known layby on the A46 that they had to permanently close due to all the dogging meets ;D
