So my main cooling fan wasn't kicking in and after investigation I learned that the fuse powering it was #4. However when I checked the fuse panel, number #4 wasn't there... So I grabbed a spare 15A fuse, went to pop it in and it didn't go in. So I took the fuse panel out and there are no cables going up to that fuse! Nothing there at all! Any ideas?

only thing i can think of is are you counting it right? could maybe be fuse 5 - electric front seats and trailer which may not be wired in on a GLS. fuse 4 is the fifth one in from the right.

Wrong fuse box... Try the one above the battery :y
Number 4 is third from the right, next to two 80 amp fuses. 40amp maxi iirc...

I've had a look and number 4 is definitely missing from the internal fuse box and the one above the battery is an 80A fuse, there is a 30A fuse 4th in from the right but no 40s ???

iirc = IF I RECALL CORRECTLY ::) 30 Amps or 40 amps is actually irrelevant to the fans not working. Is that fuse intact?

COOLING FAN FUSE IS IN THE ENGINE BAY.
Heater blower fuse is top left maxi fuse under the steering column.

Engine bay fuses are:
FV1 (80 amp) - is ABS and traction control
FV2 (80 amp) - is Main Engine Relay and glowplug timer (Diesel)
FV3 (30 amp) - is Motronic Control Unit
FV4 (80 amp) - is to the ignition switch
FV5 (80 amp) - is to fuses 1,6,7,10,20,25,27,29
FV6 (80 amp) - is to fuses 5,12,17,24, 33 (air con)

All the Cooling Fan relays/fuses are under the bonnet.
Follow the test procedure in the guide to trace the fault and fix accordingly :y

I've checked all of the engine bay fuses and they are all intact. Where abouts does the relay for it live? Above the battery as well?

Five relays relating to the aircon/cooling system and one fuse, plus two thermoswitches on the radiator itself... Nowt else to it ;)

So it turns out the relay was gone, luckily I had a spare one from my old omega. However, me and my friend have given the carb and breather system a good clean out and after we put it back together the car isn't idling right, it's now idling low and quote lumpy where it wasn't before. We have ensured all the pipes and everything are secured where they should go. A point to note, however, is that we have been getting the P0100 fault code for a while. It keeps returning when we clear it. I have tried cleaning the plug going to the MAF but to no avail. I have also tried cable tying the plug in as I read elsewhere on this forum. We've looked at it with live diagnostics and all we get is a dash next to the MAF. I also have a cone filter on it rather than the stock air filter. Would the next step be a new MAF? As I know a faulty MAF can cause rough idling?

How does it idle with MAF unplugged?
Personally I'd junk the cone filter, pointless things :y

It's also worth noting the cat is getting really hot! Just done a drive test and it still drives like it should though, just the idling issue

We can now smell fuel after she's been running for a while... The bottom pipe closet the the front of the car on the carb is slightly loose... That's nothing to do with fuel is it?

There a no fuel pipes around the throttle body, only air, as it's not a carb, it's air intake only.
It's a bit confusing when you keep referring to what we assume is the throttle body, as a carb.
are you talking about the injection manifold? :-\

Ah yes sorry I mean throttle body! I don't know why I keep calling it a carb! I'm talking about the but this sits on top of the air intake with the butterfly valve inside of it. Which yes is the throttle body. We've rectified this problem however, this was being caused by the fault MAF, it's just the miss fire to solve now :y

Pop the coil pack out and check the plugs, you should have some miss fire codes?

I'm going to check later I shall let you know. They were changed only a few weeks ago but I'll still check them :y the engine was running rich until I changed the MAF, could that have damaged the plugs? And yes I'm just getting the P0303 code.

So it's now idling fine but as soon as you undergo hard acceleration, she stutters and miss fires. Not enough to throw up a fault though...

HT under load will cause it

Just checked the o2 sensors with live diagnostics and they are okay, I'm getting +98% on fuel trim bank 2 though and around -1% on bank 1... That can't be right can it?

Just checked the plug as well and all is good, then is no damage to the plug whatsoever
