So sad, so appalling :(
Massacre (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3256633/Shooter-Oregon-community-college-kills-15-people-campus.html)
Someday the NRA are not going to be able to prove their argument

How appalling......
What is wrong with these people :(
-
Just seen the Obama press conference on this, the absolute right words at the right time.

Good words from Obama, although it won't make any difference. He'll be back on that podium making a similar speech before long. ::) :'(
-
And so begins another day... :'(
Any coincidence that cannabis use is legal in the State of Oregon :-\
-
The legality of cannabis in Oregon isn't a factor, as cannabis is not legal in Louisiana, South Carolina, Connecticut etc etc etc ::)
Cannabis itself might be a factor however. :( But then whiskey, beer, meths, glue, Republican attitudes might all be factors too. ::)

It is long overdue for us to take back the colonies and make a few changes. Language, gun laws, raise speed limits , real ale and so on

I love that gun laws are on the same level as real ale. You get my vote!

The shooter was born over here, apparently.
-
Unfortunately, mental illness and guns are a bad combination. In virtually all cases troubled, loner son has access to guns and to 'get noticed' uses them. Better screening and home security would help without compromising the right to bare arms and a safe hobby for 99.99% of the population.
The other popular route for 'loner troubled son' is to join ISIS or their ilk or to produce a few bombs to 'get noticed'.
-
The chances of any form of gun control in the US are non-existent. If any law was introduced, it would only be the law-abiding that would hand in their weapons. Those who have criminal tendencies simply wouldn't abide by such a law.
Also, given the rise of extremism (with urban street attacks becoming ever more frequent), there is even less chance of controls being accepted by the masses (not just the NRA).
Anyway, it's their country and they can do as they like. ;)

Yet another senseless crime, feel sorry for families of the victims and as it happens for the family of the perpetrator too.One female gave an interview after Obama had had his say,her friend had been shot in the stomach, but she said Obama had it wrong and that there should be more guns with everyone carrying them and knowing how to use them to defend themselves and if this was the case then all these shootings would stop :o
-
Well... that theory seems to work well enough wrt nuclear weapons... scale it back and it's hard to argue against that way of thinking :-\
-
Yep.....everyone should have a 9mm deterrent.
-
Obama got his speech spot on, but I doubt there is much even he can do.
If a Muslim or such did this, they would be a massive out cry, questions asked, all kinds. But then it's a local person, it's just put down to "one nutter" and everyone moves on. Just have to wait for the next one :-\

A lad at work has relatives in the States(Texas ?) His cousin drives her car with a small hand gun in the glove box but any alcohol bought has to go into the 'trunk' ???

It gets worse, if you had the book of "Little Red Riding Hood". That's banned and illegal.
Seriously! :o

Get your facts straight before quote porridge verbatum. There's a good lad ;)
For the record, Little Red Riding Hood was only banned in two school districts in the entire US, and that happened when you were in nappies, so hardly newsworthy... ::)
-
Uncle Rupe has taught him well. ;D ;D
-
Nappies huh? Someone needs to do some maths ;) as I remember being told that at school. Don't remember any nappies ::)
Either way it was banned, in certain state, it was easier to get a gun?
Point is they look to block certain books, but not guns?

994 mass shootings in 1,004 days: this is what America's gun crisis looks like
The Oregon school shooting is evidence that the US response to gun violence ‘has become routine’, Barack Obama says. The data compiled by the crowd-sourced site Mass Shooting Tracker reveals an even more shocking human toll: there is a mass shooting – defined as four or more people shot in one incident – nearly every day
