How do I remove the leather handbrake gaiter on a 3.2 FL Elite?
-
Id like to know as well please. Do you need to strip all the arm rest off ? ???

Squeeze at the base, the plastic frame inside the 'leather' is pretty pliant. Pull upwards. Pull it so it's inside-out. Then just rip off, pulling toward the front of the car. Dead easy.
Gear gaiters are a pain, however :)
Can't think for sure if there's a screw in there, but I don't think there is. :)

Does that trash it? I need to know because I am breaking the car and someone is interested in that bit!

The thin end is secured with a cable tie which needs cutting to open the end and allow the gaiter to be pulled off the lever.
The wide outer part is secured to aplastic plate with very thick staples. These can be pulled out with long nosed pliers and re-used on new gaiter by peircing leather with a bradawl or similar sharp tool and then the spaple can be pushed back throught the leather and the plastic trim and crimped back to secure .
Simple job ,but gear lever requires re-stitching with thread.

Really? I've never found that, it just pulled off, maybe I was lucky there was enough elasticity in it, and it didn't rip/split the stitching. I'll rip mine off tonight, to check :)
