No, it's normal. If it bothers you, then pull up the gearlever gaiter and wrap the solenoid in foam to mask the noise.

The 'leather' gaiter just pulls up if you get your fingers under the back end and pull. This will give you some access to damp the solenoid if that's what you're trying to do.
Removing the 'wood' trim makes a lot more room, but requires a lot more dismantling.

Definitely lifts up at the rear edge of the plastic surround  :y - I had mine out at the weekend.

Why? It's working as it should. You should worry if it does NOT click as you'll not be able to get the car out of park  :y

Bugger cheers for that andy lol altho yea I agree it's working as it should my poor grammer and spelling isn't helping lol. I ment to say I was going to try and pad it so it wouldn't be so noisy when braking I'd love to say I can deal with it but sadly the ocd in me won't allow it :(

It should only click when the car is in park, in normal use on the road there shouldn't be a click  ;)

It's been a while since I've driven an auto Omega regularly, but sure that it clicks every time you press the pedal...:-\

Ok took the surround up and on the left side of the automatic stick I see a metal small square box with a rod coming out of it. When I press the brake pedal this is making the noise and it's moving a hook shape over the top of another part.
