Been on my mind for a while, and an annoying incident last night has pushed my hand a little further...
Considering some very basic cctv,
Cheap PTZ ip cam on a windowsill watching over the garden. Literally bit of motion detect recording, just about good enough to positively ID someone if needed.
Something like one of these, question is, anyone used one, any good or total crap? Im not expecting the moon on a stick at this price point, but are they worth having?

Non of those will work on a night because the LED night illumination will reflect off the glass and totally screw up the picture.
Your better off with one of these high up on the wall under the eaves or lower if you can get a power supply to it ;)

Foscam are not bad for the money but can be a pain in the arse to setup.
IIRC, they use Port 88 instead of the normal 80 so it will need some manual configuring ;)

Cheers TG, a little more than I was wanting to spend, but easily monutable, and cableable as I have network swictch in the loft as it is.
Illumination not really a problem as streetlighting is good where we are, and house external ligh would provide some fill in too
Are they reasonable wide angle?

30 deg from the lens is pretty good.
If you mount it at say 25ft above ground in one corner of your property, it should cover the full front / path to your door and the parking spaces in front of your house too :y
This one ...............

Has a memory card slot so can be setup using pixel manipulation (motion detection) to only record onto the card when somebody passes ;)
You can then access it via wifi and download the images if needed :y
Sadly, I can't vouch for the quality though :(
