There are few CCTV buffs on here, looking to install a system here.
Requirements:
- Waterproof, it's for outside use.
- HD Picture - 1080p
- Record on Motion
- Excellent night vision.
- HDD type solution
- At least 2 cameras, 3 preferred.
- Not **too** fussed about remote access via internet, although that would be nice.
Budget: Around £150 max, ideally more around £100
Thinking along lines of this?

That doesn't meet your spec (720P) ;)
-
Yeah, finding it hard to find budget 1080p.
Might have to be 720p - Futher research suggests IP cam setup, with PoE would be better.
Eg

Tad more though

Cameras at that budget are going to be limited by the quality of the lens and sensor anyway, so 1080p would just be a marketing gimmick. This is especially true if you want it to have any night vision capability, I'd say. Plus, it will increase storage requirements.
-
Also bear in mind that regardless of the resolution of your camera, the CCTV software is likely to heavily compress the files anyway resulting in a loss of final resolution, especially in low light.
-
Why do you need 1080p?
-
Your pishing in the wind if you want something decent at that price Tunnie ;D
Go for 2 or 3 reasonable external wireless IP camera's with possibly SD card backup.
That way, you can either connect them (hardwire or Wi-Fi) to a DVR sat in a cupboard somewhere or stick a memory card in them and if you have the need to backup anything, you can do it direct to a computer using the Wi-Fi using the appropriate software.
What / when the individual cameras record is down to how you set each one up using motion detection.
Also if the cameras are connected via your home network, you can access each one via a computer / mobile phone anywhere ;)
Oh yeh, focus on the quality or the lens / IR filter, NOT the dpi ;)
720dpi is more then adequate unless you need to record at distance or are installing PTZ's so you can sit there and zoom into peoples bedrooms at night :D :D
A few other pointers on Jimbob's post a few days ago :y
For what its worth, I finally got my internet installed and secured yesterday :D
Today, i'm running cat5e cables all over the house.
Next week, when I get paid (hopefully), i'm sticking a couple of cameras up myself :D

Why do you need 1080p?
Fed up of crappy images from very budget cameras I've used before. Wanted something a bit better.
Not really after wireless, prefer wired solutions really. Want an all-in-one solution like really:

Having done a fair amount of work in this area, don't piss around with cheap cameras. IR cameras (of any cost) will be disappointing at night for definition (so 1080p not needed), and many can't IR illuminate that far, and easily buggered by other lighting.
Analogue ones have fiddly cable requirements, but the DVRs are *MUCH* cheaper at the budget end. IP cameras need just a cat5 (assuming PoE, in which case don't forget the PoE switch (or injectors, but they are a bit of a pain)) NVRs that are either shite or horrifically expensive for home use.
If this is for security, what are you trying to achieve? Having presented a few pieces of footage to the authorities before, nothing has come of it. In our case, its an insurance requirement, not a deterent or security device.
