All very good. Can't believe you missed the most iconic Vx advert though.

Sorry for the DP, but;
Those were the good Vauxhall days.
The Nova was better than the Fiesta
The Astra was better than the Escort
The Cavalier was light years ahead of the Sierra (even though it was FWD)
Sadly, those days are gone. The Fiesta makes the Corsa look stupid, the Focus is a far better car than the Astra, and the Mondeo is driving perfection.
Note: Of course there are better cars out there, but I'm comparing like for like in terms of class of vehicle and cost when new.
Sad, sad times.

I grew up with the 'new generation' of the curvy Vauxhalls having appeared, like a machine gun...
86 Carlton
87 Senator
88 Cavalier
89 Lotus Carlton/Calibra previewed
my 'childhood era was early 90s, so more fresh models like the MkIII Astra, Corsa, then the thing that replaced the Carlton (Ohmooga, or something like that ???) as a flagship to this curvy, fresh, bright sales chart-toppping range. Happy days.
It seemed like all of a sudden Vauxhall was a brand new company (and that was after the early 80s very similar 'brand new Vauxhall', with like a bullet most of the range suddenly became FWD and crisp, sharp styling with plastic replacing chrome almost overnight.
A Mk III Cavalier was the first car we owned which was... still in production (amazing!) Watching that first Ad I realise that as an F Reg SRi Hatch (in Bordeaux Pearlescent) that Cav would have been the first year of production.... for all I know that might have been the first registered in the country, a collector's car now! My dad took out a loan to buy it, was the first car I remember speeding in, first family holiday I remember, the comfiest (and hardest!) seats ever. We then got a Cav CD, J Reg, which was other-worldly, plush, even comfier - and softer - seats, real wood trim. Just as fast as the SRi.
I do miss Mk III Cavs and will always have a soft spot for them. First car designed ground-up on Computer, so they say, too. Genuinely mould-breaking, and much, much underrated. Thanks for the links :y
How much are Mk III Cavs to buy now? :D

A teacher at school had an E reg Mk3 Sri hatch in gunmetal, complete with plastic wheel trims...
He even had a mullet as I recall ;D
