My new TV has no scart inputs, only HDMI and some other coloured holes, (plus ethernet). My Humax Freeview box only has Scart (and coloured holes again, no idea what they're for). I would like to connect the Humax to the TV by HDMI for recording Freeview channels, but cannot find a converter cable to convert scart output to HDMI input, only small boxes, pictures of which only show the scart inputs, so how does the output from these go to the HDMI? :-\ :-\ :-\

Not cheaply, plus it will look poor.
Does the Humax have Component out? If so, does TV have Component in?
-
Component plugs normally being red, green and blue, along with red and white for audio.
(This cannot be pulled from RGB outputs from the RGB in some scart implementations)

What is "Component"?

Sorry, too slow, both have some coloured holes. TV has blue and yellow, each of which have several other colours shown against them, also the yellow has video written by it. The Humax has red white and yellow, R & W has Audio aginst it and Yellow has video. The Humax also has a male multi pin socket with RS-232C against it. :-\ :-\ :-\

So is it not possible to connect scart to HDMI through one of these type boxes http://www.amazon.co.uk/Output-Converter-Adapter-Support-Amazon/dp/B00IWJL0FK ? :-\ :-\ :-\

Wrong way round ain't it?

How about this then? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Output-Converter-Adapter-Support-Amazon/dp/B00IWJL0FK

Same link isn't it? :-\
This one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/SCART-HDMI-converter-convert-connect/dp/B0092IAA3I/ref=pd_cp_470_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=03JC32FEJFM0ANC9S0KM) claims to do what you want. Not so sure myself as I didn't think it possible either. Watching with interest though... I might need to do the same soon ::)

What model of Humax is it?
Any chance of a pic of the connectors on it and the telly?

A pic is worth a thousand words, if you can photo Humax and TV :y
You may get away with Yellow (Composite video) and red/white (stereo audio) from Humax into same on back of TV. Quality will obviously be poor. Additionally, the TV will not automatically switch to that source when you switch on the Humax.
Your old SCART setup may have used composite video, or more likely separate RGB which gives a better signal.
Rather than beat about the bush, I'd seriously look at replacing the Humax with something newer :'(
I don't think you'll get great results with any analogue to digital convertors to be brutally blunt.

That is what I thought might be the case, I do want a decent picture, so if necessary will replace the Humax. I see Samsung do a combined Freeview HDR and DVD player which would fit the bill, allowing me to replace both the Humax and a Phillips DVD player, both currently unused due connection issues as described. I'm only using a Humax Freesat at the moment, together with the TV's Freeview channels when required.
Ever Ready, it is a Humax 9200T. :y
Thanks guys. :y :y :y
