The number of untaxed vehicles on the road has doubled since the Tax Disc was abolished according to the BBC. ::)

Should we be surprised at this? :D

I'm not surprised at all :-X :-X :-X

Useless bastids. There's no way they've got enough resources to catch
me people.
-
Remember my thread lamenting the passing of the tax disc?
Told ya. ;D
-
Wait until all the tax offices close and everyone's tax affairs have been 'digitised'.
-
have they stopped sending out tax reminders now?
just asking as I never got a reminder nor did my mrs.

Should still get a reminder. :y
I've just taxed mine this month using the reminder letter reference so not sure why you haven't had one. :-\
Edit:
I seem to remember posting that I didn't get a reminder last time and only knew about it when I got a red one. :-[ Perhaps they are only allowed so many stamps and when they run out they don't send any more. ::) ;D

Buy a banger, drive it till it gets stopped/seized. Buy another..
Seen it done, will see it again by those that dont care for the rules.
When you watch the conclusion to programs such as road wars when they tell you the ££ of the fine handed out..
Who says either that the court ever gets the paltry fines paid up?

Yes, got one this month.

Under the tax disc system everyone could see when every car was taxed. Now only when a car is pulled over or picked up on a NPRC is it discovered. With cloned or muddy plates the risk of detection must be very low. Just to save a few bob on issuing discs Osborne has lowered his net income from car tax significantly, silly fellow.

For those[like me]who for whatever reason-in my case too damn idle/can't be bothered-are still running around with their old tax disc in the windscreen, then beware.Whilst it is no longer done to display a tax disc you can be fined/get points for :o

They pay them off at 50p a week out of their bennfitts innit... they need the rest for drugs- er, booze- er, fags- er, food, that's the one that the court will believe.
It seems in Cleveland it's absolutely fine to wrestle with and bite a police officer, so long as you've done nothing else wrong - and after all it's what he signed up for, right?

Sorry bit of brain fade on my last post :-[ You can be fined for/get points for displaying an out of date tax disc, although it's no longer a legal requirement to display a current one.
-
It now cost's me more to tax than insure my car. Whilst when I was a youff was other way round :o

Bring back the Tax Disc i say >:(

Will be a VERY slow day for a cop to nick you for that.
And would get the punt quick/fast if it was even offered for Court process, I would suggest.....
-
I reckoned you'd have to be pushing it some/be very unlucky to actually get nicked for it.Just thought I'd post it as a warning of the possibility however remote. But would the cameras flag it up?Only asking that as don't know how sophisticated such things are.

No such offence exists now for displaying an out of date disc, the ticket books don't cater for them, so there's no offence for it. It was not an endorsable offence anyway, so you wouldn't get points, just a large fine if DVLA could be arsed.

I got email reminder about my tax disc renewal, might be worth checking junk/spam folders.
