Title: Please sign - Road Tax rise
Post by: omegabsw on 16 July 2008, 00:21:19
Please would everybody go onto the goverment petitions website and sign  their name if you dont agree with the plans to rise the price of Road Tax in 2009 and 2010

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/UNFAIR-VED/

I hope that a lot of you will sign it (I would be ashamed of you if you owned a 2002 or later V6 and didnt)  :P

maybe we can make a difference?

Me just being real hopeful I know!  ::)

Signed, for all it's worth. I think this govt are finacially bankrupt and will not go back on this one as it is worth an estimated 1 billion in extra revenue for them.   >:(

My Miggy is on an X plate (sept 2000) so I fortunately missed out on this hike. Even so I've signed it because I think backdating it was the most diabolical thing I've seen in some time.
If you want to stop people driving gas guzzlers then fine but do it from a certain date in the future not back date it.
Not only has this affected families who can ill afford the rise but their cars are going to plummet in value becasue nobody will want them so they lose out twice.
Unfortunately this Govenment will never go back on it we'll just have to hope that the next lot in will overturn it at least the backdated part anyway.

That reply is spot on! How can they change the tax bracket for cars that were purchased new over 6 years ago?

It works out that in 2010 my partners Zafira 1.8 Auto will cost £300 to tax :o while a 1999/2000 Range Rover 4.6 HSE will cost just £185

Work that out?  :-?

It just highlights the narrowminded, blinkered, sod the public approach this govenment has!

I think we should compile a list of all the adjectives that people can think of to describe brown and his cronies and then send it to him....he won't read it becasue he'lll be too busy reading about his next F^£k up in the tabloids!

can you tell I don't like them....does it show?
