Does anybody know where I can get replacement ignition keys for my Omega in the Crawley area? Vauxhall quoted approx £200 for a new one, which is a but steep, and there are a few guys advertising replacement key service within the M25, but I can't seem to locate anybody for my area.
My original set of keys went off with the scrapper when they took away my wife's crunched Corsa, and the Corsa keys which I still have are no good to me with the Omega....Doh!
I don't have a Vauxhall Car Pass with my Omega, but it is currently unlocked but unstartable.
Any suggestions for the complete berk?

Can't see anyone but vauxhall being able to do it. They would have no key to cut the blank and no way of ordering one. Vauxhall should be able to do it from your vin number.
-
Possibly the cheapest solution would be to get a carpass, and a blank key/transponder from ebay, and a new fob from dealer.
Prices, if you shop around, are around:
Carpass £20+VAT from dealer
Key/transponder £10 from ebay, delivered
Fob £25+VAT from dealer on trade

As will a decent locksmith. Who will also be able to sort the immobiliser and a remote if needed/desired. A quick ring round will find someone local to do this. This removes ALL of the buggering about getting bits from all over the place and getting different people involved. I would expect it to be quicker and cheaper than Vauxhall too.

Personally, I would bite the bullet and have one off Vauxhall. You may have to pay more money, but you'll get everything in one place and know it's right.
There is, of course, always the chance that someone may have changed the ignition lock at some point.........

I paid Timpsons £114 for a key cut and pairing on my orlando. That was with me having the key for him to cut from.

You were joking weren't you? Or just mental?
And I've just noticed the Timpsons post. I suggest a specialist for this sort of thing.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. What makes me want to avoid the main dealer route, is that they quoted £105 just for the key, then added £65 for the 1hour labour to programme it, and then added vat onto the whole lot.
On the Internet, there is a firm advertising to come out to the car, cut and programme the key all for £60-£70, but they only operate within the M25, which I'm not.
It's almost cheaper to get another Omega!

Why not give them a call... Crawley isn't far outside the M25. They might just charge a small premium ;)

Exactly, how far is Crawley to the M25, 15 mins, 20 on a bad day, book them and drive there yourself.

Put a wtd in the section for a lock n key set, inc transponder and ecu.
-
Seconded. If the car's unlocked, then you just need the above biggriffin suggests. The chap with Captain Chaos as his avatar did it on his own motor, due to losing his keys.
The only reason to go down the main dealer/Timpsons etc route is if you really, really want to have the exact same key cut that your car left the factory with, the Dealer will use the carpass to cut you a new one. If you're not that fussed, then get a key, transponder and ECU and you're there. :)
-
Thanks Guys for the suggestions. I think that I'll go down the "Second Hand Key, Lock and ECU route" from eBay. Once again, I am indebted to the Forum for all the help and advice.

Only buy if they include the car pass and reg/chassis number of the original vehicle, otherwise you're bollaxed if ever you need a new key/barrel/chip.
Secondhand ignition barrel is a false economy.
Personally I would source a new key/chip/fob from ebay, stump up the £55 ish for a new car pass and get your new blank key cut accordingly. Should still be cheaper than taking a punt on second hand.

Even my stealer will do me a carpass for £22+VAT. £55 is the listed price that nobody pays.
