Yet annother phone call, this time with the same STD code as the area where I live. Had a few of these calls but this is the 1st with a local code. :-\
They all reckon to be following up on an accident I have been involved in, which obviously wasn't me. They told me my name and address, so I them asked what my car reg was (as I do own 3 cars) to which they replied they hadn't got those details, I then asked where they were based and was told Mersyside, to which I commented about the local code. She replied to that saying thats how thier system worked.
I dont know the in and out of the scam (if it is one) but after seeing part 1 of and 3 part series I have got recorded from TV that was talking about mobile phone hacking and some of the methods they use and what they use them for it is getting worring what these people gain (if anything) from the "random" calls.
All these calls are starting to annoy me now, generally I don't answer calls that I don't recognise, but with having a local code I thought it might be mate of some kind needing help. :-\

A useful site for tracking unknown numbers is http://who-called.co.uk/ you can then see if the number is commonly used trying to scam folks.
If you get problems with emails a similar site is http://spam-report.email/ neither is 100% but can be useful IMHO

Next time they call, when they ask for Mr whoever. Tell them to hold for 1 min.
Put your phone next to some speakers, put the phone itself on speaker, and use this soundboard:

See how long you can keep the conversation going ;D :y

I get these calls alot,so i waste their time by asking which car was involved, was it my ferrari, lamborghini,or bugatti ,then ask for the reg number of car involved in the accident, which they cant supply, and they still insist on wanting to claim,so last night i said ok go ahead, put me through to an indian chap, and then told him to stop wasting my time, didnt like that and hanged up on me,which i thought was very rude lol. ;D

Some silly young bint took offence at being told where she should best stick her government grant for home improvements a couple of weeks back. Surely she must face abuse every day for cold calling?
But she was, I believe, genuinely offended. So I was happy.

I had one of them calls just the other night, I was fuming at first because I thought 'How dare Admiral sell my details' but whilst the sill bint was on the phone alarm bells started to ring - Apparently from a 'british' call centre but had a very strong Indian accent.
She said "Your insurance Co. gave me your details"
I replied "What's the name of my company then?"
She said "They've give me your number"
I said "Who?"
"Your insurers, they told me you had an accident"
"When?"
"Erm, I ain't got that detail"
"So they told you I had an accident but you don't know who my company is or when I had it?"
Then she hung up ;D ;D ;D

If I get a call from a young laydee, ask there name, then marital status, if not married are they attached, then start asking what clothes they are wearing, the best I got was to were she bought her underwear, when she asked what I was wearing I replied, nothing, you just got me out of the bath, phone went quite.
When a bloke rings up just pretend to be stemo, goes quite real quick ;D
