As per title my consol mounted boot release button isn't working. The switch on the key opens it but not the button. It still illuminates when the boot is open and there's night illumination as will, it just doesn't open the boot. Tried it with ignition on and off, key in and out. Doesn't wanna play. Would it still be the button or something else?

Press and hold the button for about 5 seconds.
We have all done it (but someone will be along soon to abuse you for not reading the manual)

This button is designed so that the boot cannot be opened by accidentally touching the switch. You have to press and hold it in for a couple of seconds and you should hear the boot lid pop open.

Think it,s caught most of us out when you first get to own an Omega. I went from a pfl to a fl so wasn't,t aware of this

Ah fair enough then. Point of note though, I can't look in the manual as I don't have one yet. My father has lost it so I've had to order a replacement.

Mine has been altered so that you can open it accidentally, for some reason. If I knock the button with my knee while driving, the boot pops open. ::)

Ex Plod? Ones are modified so they open instantly without the courtesy light coming on, the home brew mod that Andy mentioned throughs the courtesy light on at the same time from memory.

Well this morning I went out and checked to see if my boot release was actually working and I was just being stupid and hey presto it worked. Depressed button, held for a couple of seconds and 'click' the boot opened. Interesting development though, me being me I decided to press it whilst driving and after a couple of seconds 'click' it opened. Seems that mine has the delay on the switch but not the restriction on when it can be opened. Happy days.
Thanks guys.

About pre 2001, the key needs to be out of the ignition before dash switch will open boot. Post 2001, the switch needs to be press and held, as you have found.
All, assuming no other mods, obviously.

Mine is a 51 plate so must be the latter model. All good though. 😊
