Title: Intermittent indicators
Post by: artsoul_no1 on 04 January 2016, 10:14:47
Hi all, after a bit of advice

I had this problem a few years ago and as suggested on here pressed the hazard switch repeatedly and it seemed to be okay, I need to do this every few months but it has worked after each reset.

But now the indicators work twice then miss a flash then flash once again then stop. No amount of pressing the hazard switch seems to correct it. When the hazard switch is on both indicators flash as they should.

I changed hazard switch 2 years ago when I first got the problem and the indicator stalk last year. Should I be looking at a relay or fuse next?

Many thanks

Dave

and chabged the hazard switch

Thanks Zirk.

Assuming your stalk and hazard switch are ok, I would go for the flasher relay it works independently of the hazard flashers.

Flasher Relay.

Agreed, I had exactly same issue on the blue Estate.  THe relay is the large black one situated in the fuse box under the steering wheel. :y

Its always possible that parts do change in appearance, but trust me, the part you need to change is the large black one situated in the cabin fuse box ;)

I may have one of those here.
Where in Sidcup do you live out of interest? I grew up there in Hatherly Road

Keith ABS

EDIT  Definatly got two differant ones here, one larger than the other and both identified as indicator relays, £8 the pair posted

Not really I had one apart to check the relay contact, but they were fine, its full of electronic gubbins.

If your passing Junction 26 M25 in there near future you can try one of mine (for about 10 seconds) to prove a point, but guessing your need it sorting before then.

Hi Keith ABS

I know Hatherley Road well. i live near the old Marlowe rooms now a swanky Premier Inn. Everyone wants to come to sidcup so we are building hotels everywhere to squeeze them all in.

The wife always tells me off for not indicating but I figure its no ones business where I'm going
