Title: fun and games with hazard lights on Corsa in floods.
Post by: Varche on 08 January 2016, 18:21:50
Have done about 1500 trouble free miles over Xmas and New year here in Uk in the Corsa.

Took some stuff to the charity shops yesterday and got back in and the hazards came on. Nothing would stop them. I decided to drive down to the sea front to at least have a view while I got soaked pulling fuses till they went off.  Stopped and they stopped. Hasn't done it again. I do wonder if it is a problem with the key fob process rather than the switch.

It is a long long time since I have driven through such deluges and floods.

Yes, I'm wondering if it's an alarm where the sounder is dead but the hazards are still connected.

Oh crikey, does that mean the car could burst into flames at any moment?

Not if you disconnect it first :D

Had an alarm issue on a 405 once caused by a pinched loom in the steering column, did exactly the same thing... Open any door and the hazards would flash for a minute or so. Turns out that I was the first person since it left the factory to adjust the steering wheel ::)

It has done it again today. Only the second time.

Sadly I am back in Spain. Any suggestions for somewhere to get Mrs V to take it -Leicester or around?  Car audio/alarm place or VX dealer?

I have done a trawl of forums and come up with following:

Failing 12v battery even though it starts OK(any garage should be able to test and replace if required).

Problem with can bus

Power sounder fault as already suggested here.
