.... I'm going to buy a lottery ticket later. ::) £57.8 million which has to be paid out tonight! :y
According to reports I have a 1:45,000,000 chance of winning, up from 1:14,000,000 since they added 10 extra numbers. >:(. Even though it will cost me twice as much as it used too >:( and I've less chance of winning, I just feel compelled. :-\
You've gotta be in it to win it. ::) Right? :D ;D
-
Remember all your friends on OOF if you win, especially that snot green Astra driver, could chuck him enough to respray it perhaps??? :D :D ;D ;D
-
Got a free go from last week 2 numbers = free lucky dip apparently ( thats first time we've entered for quite a while)
Can't see the new 10 extra numbers idea is going to work as big roll overs are going to be the norm IMO
But you never know . . . winning a few grand on a free ticket would be delightful :y :y
-
Just got 1 ticket , not even a queue . Going to buy a nice Vxr monday ::)
-
Its been said that tickets are being bought at 400 per second :o :o :o So someones making a fortune!!!

And before the idiots on facearse say owt, the parent company make a whopping 0.5p on every ticket... ;)
-
It`s probably harder to get five numbers now than it was to get six numbers before they added the extra ten balls :-X
I`ve not bought a ticket since they changed it but I might get a couple of lucky dips tonight though ;D
-
A 2012 study suggested the Romford postcode area was the luckiest place in Britain, with one in 1,238 adults having won a prize of more than £50,000 since the lottery began.
Dammit thats reduced the odds for the rest of us ::)
Lottery website has gone down ::)

Yeah...yeah...sure you'll win it. ;D
You have more chance of STMO saying something good about the Omega. ;)
-
Now you're being silly :D
-
Must admit I've been tempted into buying a ticket too!
-
amusing read ;D
I'm three times more likely to father identical quads than win 58million - dammit l will buy Lotto ticket one more time (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3389733/TOM-UTLEY-m-three-times-likely-father-identical-quads-win-58million-dammit-ll-buy-Lotto-ticket-one-time.html)

One of the comments at the bottom of the DM article..... :-X
You've got to in it to win it, so why isn't our pension fund in it, instead of a Canadian Teachers Pension fund?

Ah, another facearse reader ;D...
Camelot runs the lottery. It happens to belong to the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan, who paid a mere £389,000,000 for it an age ago. This pension pot receives it's income (technically a return on its intial £389,000,000 investment rather than a pay cheque) from Camelots' profits... which incidentally is 0.5p in the pound...
Ticket vendors receive 5p and the Treasury receives 12p for every £1.00 spent on the National lottery. So before jumping on the DailyFail/facearse band wagon, ask yourself who actually makes money from it...
Worth also considering that if our public sector pensions were run with a bit more of an open mind rather than Icelandic banking whims, we probably wouldn't be quite so screwed ;)
Not that any of that should get in the way of a decent story ;D

By my reckoning the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan receives £27,500,000 per annum from Camelot which represents a healthy 7.07% on their original investment of £389,000,000. :y
As the Daily Mail commentator points out "You've got to be in it to win it!" ;)
-
Based on your number and https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Lottery_(United_Kingdom)
The Treasury receives £660,000,000.
Just saying...
-
And the relevance is? ::)
-
It doesn't matter a jot who owns Camelot ;)
-
Two winners...£33,000,000 each. Now.....was Tigger one of them? :)

I doubt it... You'd have heard the bouncy bouncing from Barnsley :D
-

You might think that, but that's £27,500,000 a year that could/should be going to good causes rather than to a foreign investor. ::)
The whole thing has been a stitch up from word go in the '90's when it was set up and Branson wanted to run it on a non profit basis. That caused quite a hoo haa as I recall when the government awarded it to Camelot who planned to make a profit on the venture. A minimal profit as you say, but a profit none the less. ::)
And no I didn't win and I'm feeling particularly bitter and twisted today!! >:( ;D ;D ;D
-
Never playing the lotto ever again >:( >:( >:( Even the raffle was a fix , they didnt even draw a Gold number and i had 2 ::)
Whens the next draw ;D
-
£27,500,000 or 0.5% is small change compared to the £1,540,000,000 or 28% that goes to good causes and the £2,750,000,000 or 50% that goes in prizes...
And no I didn't win either ::)
-
10 of us in a syndicate at work which I run , done the National Lottery since 2004 a few wins but nothing major, we are in agreement that from February we switch to the Health Lottery smaller prize but we are not happy with the changes that have been introduced.
-
I thought the change to 59 numbers, and the subsequent lengthening of the odds against winning the jackpot, would be the death of it. But, of course, as the prize gets bigger, the more players it attracts. Shrewd or accidental?
-
It was 57.8 million on wed then it went up to 66 Million, so lots of tickets must of been sold after last wed for it to go up by another 6 million.
Some idiots got took in by the bigger prize money :-X
-
Its voluntary but still a tax on the poor :-\

Al, you should really go into politics with that relaxed attitude towards other peoples money! :P
I just hope that the Clapped Out Canadian Teachers are grateful for my 1p that went into their pension pot yesterday, although I'd rather it went towards disabled kids or something like that in this country along with my 56p. ;)

Guilty as charged! :-[ ::) ;D

Happiness is everything and there is no evidence to suggest you'll be twice as happy should you win forty million instead of a paltry twenty million. :)
I'm happy enough with barely five million. :)
