Seems ideal for the wife. Ad says it's done 100 miles but it's only done 7! Got £3500 for her megane. Pick it up next Saturday.

Same, then tried 3D Touch or whatever it's called on the link and it worked. Nice blue but an ugly car makes the Astra look pretty :o

Nice car in the flesh, modern with plenty of tech, supposedly 80mpg. As I said, ideal for wifey's commute. I took it for a spin and it's quite nippy.
-
But link suggest it's one of these...
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Captur (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Captur)
Having had the displeasure of driving a modern Renult, all I can say is you would need to pay me to drive one on a regular basis.
Still. Disposable car, should be good for 3 years before it's totally shot. ;D
-
Oh, and the Astra is pretty. :)

80mpg my Arse.
Got more chance of a fatty admin fitting blue LED's in his cars.

You should be ashamed of yourself,Tunnie. Go and play with some younger people, you sound just like the other old farts on here.

There you go :-*

£13k on that shitbox :o
Holy cow, that's a lot of money to spend on something like that.

It's all relevant....I guess you spent a fortune on your new build cardboard box :-\

I could never justify such a large amount of money for a car of that type, the depreciation on that will be catastrophic.
What was wrong with the Megan? Thought that served you well?

Yep..5 years...50,000 miles...not one problem with it. When I posted up that I'd bought it in 2010, £12,500 for a Renault, six months old and only 6000 miles...the thread looked a bit like this one.
Good job I took no notice eh? ;D ;D

5 years, loosing £9k along the way in its value. That's expensive motoring? Plus any potential APR from car loan, but have feeling you paid cash?
4 years since I bought the 3.2, cost less than 4 figures. Could sell it for what I paid for it, just!

5 years, loosing £9.5k along the way in its value. That's expensive motoring? Plus any potential APR from car loan, but have feeling you paid cash?

Yes, but I don't let money rule my life, it's merely a tool to be used as I see fit. Car is for the wife, wife loves it, so money doesn't matter.
-
Oh yes, and you (mile for mile) have spent more on fuel, more on tax, more on repairs/parts.
Tax on this is £0 btw.
-
Could be worse, it could be a Nissan Juke...
Oh, wait, it is ;D
Perfect wifey car, and just in time for winter too :D sure she'll love it :y
-
Admittedly not the car I'd spend my money on,but it's each to their own isn't it?She likes it Stemo's happy so all's good.Hope it gives her the reliable service she's after.

It's a captur, a juke and a clit! Three for the price of one.
-
Steve.....you must be aware you'll be given a 'verbal kicking' by posting a picture of anything French built on here. ;D
For what it's worth I quite like it......shame you couldn't have bought it in a shitty colour like the Astra though. We could have enjoyed endless hours of fun at your expense. ;)

I did look at a 'shit brown' one, they seem to be in vogue these days. It was slightly cheaper but had done 1200 miles....hardly 'new'.

Indeed ;D however, I suspect that Stemo actually quite likes Mrs Stemo, hence the bright blue choice...
-
Wifey doesn't seem to care about the car, she's spent half an hour reading about the medianav, wondering whether it will love her iphone and apple watch.

I would be very surprised if it doesn't love them both. Twice. ;)

Mile for mile yes, but not when you factor in the £9k you pissed away in 5 years. ::)
Pence per mile it's cost you ~£0.18 - That's before any service bills, tyres, fuel and any APR if not bought cash.
-
It was bought cash, as has this one and, to me, safety and reliability are priceless.

Renault Alpine V6 would make an appreciating classic. :y
Prices are still relatively low.

The deed is done and 'Charlie' ::) is on the drive.
I drove back from Sheffield and, I must say, it's quite a nippy little thing.

Yes...but did it give you the James May 'fizz' just behind your todger?

I'm past mating with anything, let alone a tiny Frenchie called Charlie. ;D

Better to drive than the lurid green Astra? :)

I can fully understand the cars attraction for Mrs Stemo, considering Stemo's history:
"In some versions it also adds removable seat covers with zippers,[5]" ::) ::) ::)
With a daily commute and as a headteacher with school car park kudos to consider, it makes perfect sense to me that the Megan at 50,000 miles and 5 years old has been replaced. I hope it serves her as well as the Megan did with 5 years of trouble free motoring. :y :y :y
Tunnie sounds like an accountant, whereas to me money is a tool to live and enjoy life and one of our few personal freedoms left, is to spend it how we damned well like. :y :y :y

I can only aspire to a five year old car. :( :'(
One day I too hope to own a 5 year old Megane. For now though it must remain a forlorn dream. :)

.....and a strict headmistress (in high heels and black fishnets) sounds far better than the 'politically correct' headteacher. :-* :-* :-*

Yes, but the Megane would have to go. Maybe a Lotus Elan or an MGB?
-
At Tunnie's age I suppose we were all fixing cars and extracting as much value as we could from our transport - young families etc. But now at 64 I am with Stemo and having something new, reliable and no big bills or time off road (or if it is then courtesy car available). You just do not need the hassle. If you can afford it do it.
That range of car is fine for prospective pensioners - I wouldn't like to be maintaining Phaetons and Touaregs without some decent fund though.

Doubt that would be our car. It's the same setup as clit, note and juke, and I think they'll have sold a few more than 15000 of those.

Don't know about the Phaeton but my Touareg is pretty good for routine maintenance costs, although I'm sure big bills are very possible if something lets go ::)
-
I think you do your own servicing though Henry??

Even if you own/run your own garage it still has a cost...

True, but at least I don't bill myself labour costs and all the bits are trade.
