Now i'm working away a lot and since I keep forgetting my piggin phone charger because I have the memory of a goldfish with Alzheimer's, i'm looking at getting one of these contraptions ;D :y
Anybody got / use one ?
Recommendations please :)

EE, Orange, T Mobile, were giving them away free to there customers.
Positive side was, if went flat you could swap for a charged one in any EE shop.
Not sure if its all still happening.

I bought one of these - pricey, but great back up. Obviously not quite a pocket companion, but I found it great for travelling with last year. It has a charge indicator on it too.

The power bar type that EE give away seem to have a week connector point and become unreliable after a while (in my experience).

Seems a bit excessive. We have a couple of small battery packs for the occasions when Mrs V ,s mobile coms.run flat. Cost about £10 each.
How far are you ever going to be from a charging point?

Varche......... Normally away from home for 4 or 5 days a week.
Just looking for something to charge up and chuck in my rucksack.
If I can squeeze 5 or 6 charges out of it then great :y
I take it that most items will charge if you plug the appropriate usb lead in to these things :-\

In reality for a smartphone you will get 2-3 recharges out of a 6-8ah portable power supply. You have to factor in losses in transfer and the cheaper you go the more losses there are. Also it wont charge very quickly unless you get a good one.
I picked up one for about 30 quid and used it a lot when commuting. I was thinking about stitching it in to my laptop bag with all the necessary wiring, possibly even incorporating a raspberry pi or an odroid. But I have many other projects to complete first.

I used to carry allsorts of batteries with me for cycling or homemade curcuits. I would always get pulled to one side to explain. Idiots even tried to take my tools once after I had made sure they fitted perfectly with restrictions

TBH, once I tell them I have crohns all suggestions about cavity searches stops for some reason. Cant think why ::)

He hasn't got a car with him . Earlier he said he was away from home 4 or 5days. Even with fuel so cheap he uses shanks,s pony. No built in cigar lighter on those or 240v invertors.
I am beginning to think two of those original items in a supermarket trolley would be ideal.

I think all the EE ones were eventually recalled for various reasons.

Ensure when charging, its under constant supervision, and frequently checking if its getting warm. Also, only charge a room temp, and on solid surfaces like a kitchen worktop (not carpet/sofa/bed/tablecloth).

I used to have a Mobiria Transportable that wasn't much smaller than that jump pack, used to take it everywhere, weighed a frekcing ton. ::)

My first works phone, IIRC a Cellnet Ruby, but basically likes Zirks pic a few posts above, ended up in the glovebox one day when I braked hard. I didn't even need to open glovebox first.
