Measured the shaft end of B4,s to compare with OEM shocks and as advised by previuos posts the B4,s are around 12mm shorter meaning the original GM fixing set will not fit and will require either using that supplied with the shocks or sourcing fixing set for an Estate.
Spoke with Dealers this morning and both upper and lower rubbers are only available from Germany and the metal sleeves need to be ordered in a bag of 5 :-\ despite all cars only ever needing 2 ...typical GM. >:(
How bad are the fixing supplied by Bilstein as cant see any real solution now ?

Dont want to use them either really :-\ but buggered if Im being turned over by VX to order 5 metal sleeves when I only need 2,also rubber bumps are Germany only and going by past experience they take 3 weeks then you get a call saying they havent got any .
Any body got 2 Estate Fixings kits...dont need the metal cups as have them from old SL set in shed..just the 2 rubber bits and the metal sleeve, :y

I can make the estate metal sleeves if they prove to be a problem. Any multiple you like, and there won't be much of a wait.

Just now need to find a quicker source of the 2 rubber bits as no doudt Germany will be a long wait .
Buy a pack of 5 is just plain stupid on GM,s part even number surely :(

I know where there are a couple that would do for a prototype
What is the issue with the bushes you have? Would a custom sleeve/cup thingamajig help?

The differences are plain... The genuine sleeve is twice the weight of the Bilstein one...

Think Als point is, the GM fittings are far better/substantial and I am sure I have read somewhere the Bilstein kit doesnt last or fit well.
Curiuos to hear if others whi have B4,s fitted on the rear have had issue with the Bilstein kit or is it just a preference

Having had Al do my car with Bilsteins and Eibach springs recently and having seen the difference in the quality of the parts,I think yes BG you have a point that there shouldn't be an issue with the kit supplied,but I took Al's advice and went down the belt and braces route so as to avoid any future problems...just in case the Bilstein kit is not as good quality :-\ :y

The fit is woeful and the parts are clearly cheap approximations of what the originals might look like in the dark with your eyes closed :-X

I fitted a set of KYB rear shocks to mine a couple of years ago and remember thinking that the fitting kit looked a bit puny compared to what came off. ::)
I used them anyway as I'd already taken the old shock off and the only time that I remember is when I see threads like this. ;) Fit and forget! :y

Thanks for advise guys and comments ,however as I always like to "cover all bases" when doing things I would still be gratefull if anybody has the metal sleeves x 2 and just the 2 rubber parts again x 2 that way I have all options open to me.
It is quite clear looking at the bits the rubber sleeves from Bilstein to GM are light years apart in quality :o

It's getting dark now but I'll have a rummage in the morning,as I had to buy more bits than needed as per the requirement when dealing with VX ::)

My shocks are showing signs of oil mist, so I'll be in need of a set, should anyone else have a surfeit, or need anyone to go halves on a set. :y

Saloon and estates are different lengths, saloons are longer ;)

Yes, and for Bilstein's you need to use the estate ones regardless ;)

I ordered those just a few weeks ago and they arrived pretty quickly - about 4 days I think.
