Get a big gas guzzling V8 ,  who cares about tax pollution & all the other green bo**ocks I am only here once & am going to enjoy it no need to tell lies about emissions, because I just don't care.

Yes...but I live in a wooden shack with my pigs and sheep. :)

However, despite the unrelenting grinding poverty I'm please that my humble selection of old cars runs on petrol. :P :P

Someone commented the other day that they felt my car (the Ranger) was "too big" for the company car park..

..could be because they drive a Tesla Model S and are a limp wristed tree hugging leftie, of course.

I'm not sure exactly what Mr Tilbo paid for his Merc, but I believe it was less than the £13000 you paid for the derv frenchie. ;)

Speaking of large motors, I followed  a huge left hand drive yank tank called a Lincoln Navigator down the M69 and M6 yesterday.

Think of the size of Kent and then double it.

Apparently, the Renault Captur will now be worth about £1500, but I am used to such depreciation.  ;D

The dealer wanted £5995, I got it for £5250 Opti, an absolute bargain  I think. £55,000 new & only 30,000 miles with full history all receipts ,mot's & even all the old tax discs all mounted in a leather binder a really cherished car.

The temptation to turn up in a Silverado 3500 must be getting almost impossible to resist. :D

Hopefully no connection with you collecting your car.

Tesla:
Length 498cm
Width 219cm (196cm with mirrors folded)

Ranger:
Length :   535.9 cm
Width :   185 cm

It's actually narrower if you exclude the wing mirrors (which I have to assume that width does!) ;D

The whole fossil fuel dynamic is changing where tree huggers like the STEMO family are buying economical devil's juice vehicles which along with the steady rise in the number of milk floats and stupid levels of tax, particularly in Europe, means the amount of fuel used by vehicles has dropped dramatically. Greedy European governments taking the lead from John Major and the UK thought they could put the tax up forever on fuel only to find the Laffer curve applies to this as well, so the consistently miss their tax take targets. Each time they put the tax up they get even less tax in, which is why Osbourne has frozen it. :y :y :y

When oil was at $130 a barrel the Saudis were very concerned as at this price it made it economic to develop much more economical vehicles and to develop the use of alternative fuels, they became not just viable but cheaper and volume production and new technology will mean they would lose their oil market. They were right, as last year the installation of the amount of new renewable energy sources was at an all time high despite low oil prices, with the renewable energy production costs also dropping. The next generation of batteries will have higher energy densities, longer life and charge much faster. There are also many new technologies in development to allow us to store energy at lower EROEI values and device cost than is currently possible, which is renewable's achilles heel.

The good news with renewable energy is that there will be enough for the next 3 billion years, while the non-tree huggers can enjoy running their V8s and V12s. :) :) :)

I am not a tree hugger. I emit vast amounts of methane gas.  :P
