Still got no 4g/3g, only got phone been 24hrs now :(
-
Switched 3g on / Mobile Data, or what ever the phone says.
Sometimes on EE, if it a new Sim registration, you need to go on a walk about and get the Sim to connect to more than one base site. Ive had this before, no 4g in the house for weeks, go for a drive till you pick 4g signal, then it works effortlessly on 4g all the time. :-\

You'll have to contact BT customer service soon, that will be fun. :)

I never cease to be amazed at the sub standard quality of tech products. We have a whole generation of folk who accept tech not working or worse not working properly as the norm. Worse the industry knows that and factors it in. I was appalled on my recent trip to the UK at the lack of mobile coverage on trunk roads. How can that be in a little country that leads the world? When traffic movement is totally controlled by computers somewhere and they stop for a restart to load the latest essential updates I suspect people will just read or play Angry Birds 8 and crucially not complain ;D

I don't know about the middle of Andalucia, but the UK is quite a hilly country and radio signals don't work as people think they do.... It's not just a case of put a transmitter/repeater station in the middle of a town and it'll work.... It's a case of how easy will it be to install the repeater station and hope that it works...

If you ever go on the Ofcom Base Station finder, your be amazed how many micro sites there are, even in small villages, just to cover meters of coverage. Years ago, cell sites where where pumping out high power on top of tall major radio masts sites, today its all about covering population vs congestion.
-
Yes I know about the micro sights for the cell towers, being digital they can be hidden almost anywhere..
I do go onto OFCOMs website every now and then to see what new laws I have to abide by when using my amateur radio sets (HF, 2M and 70cms) I have to abide by those laws if I want to keep my licence...

Ive got one of those kicking around from about 40 years ago, cant remember the last time I used it though.
-
TBH Zirk, my licence is fully up to date, but its very rare I actually use it in anger..
I do listen a lot though to the Italians with their megawatt stations... With me limited to 100W maximum, and the position I am in geographically... I dont get out much... LOL
I have 3 antennas fitted..
1 on the chimney for 2M and 70cms...
1 on the side of the house for my scanner...
and 1 that runs the length of the garden, all 110ft of it....
I do have a radio installed in my Omega, but that also never gets switched on either...
At first I was really interested in communicating with the world, but life gets in the way and I lost interest... much to the annoyance of my bank manager, as the radios themselves do cost a fair bit to buy, even 2nd hand...
-
Now days with tinter-net, and farce-book amateur radio is a bit dated, also you can buy a decent yeasu or Kenwood for the price of a laptop, and a decent linear, not much more.
-
I bought 1 of those cheap as chips Baofeng UV5-R a couple of years ago,and it can do more than all my old radios put together, except for HF frequencies, but it does everything else...
I thought to myself, for £30 I can't go wrong even if I just leave it in my car for emergencies...
Iv charged it once, and its still on a full battery 2 years later.... just can't beat it...
All my radios are Yaesu, I even have the old faithful FT290r Mk2 with Mutek front end preamp, which still works 100%. I also have a Sommerkamp FT290R, which is exactly the same radio set as the Yaesu but was aimed at the US market... I have a FT23R, very old handheld 2M only radio - which by todays standards is very very limted in what it can do, even with its mighty 2.5W max output.... when it was new, it was the latest thing to have, but its so outdated now....

I think all mobile networks were impacted, due to a fault on the backbone wholesaler's network... ...BT.
