Title: Tumble dryer!!!!
Post by: plym ian on 15 January 2016, 16:21:03
So as some of you may know about indiset/hotpoint/whirlpool some of the dryers had a risk of catching fire.

When this was on the news i went on there web site and filled out the relivent form for them to fix the problem with the dryer. I had only had this less than 2 years.

So last week i had a call from indiset to say that they would be replacing the dryer completely, result i thought. He then said that instead of an indiset the were swapping it with a whirlpool.

So today comes knock at the door and there was the men with the dryer, picked up other one and dropped in my lovely new upgraded dryer. I said to the guy why arnt they fixing these then? He said apparently its more cost effective this way rather than sending a guy out to replace the £2 part that it needs to fix the issue with the old machines!!!!

Someone obviously in head office wasnt strong on maths  ;D ;D ;D

Yea, theres a lot of that going on theses days, probably something on that scale means they would have to sub contract the work to an 'Approved Supplier' (there the ones that can't be arse'd to do anything for 6 months because they have managed to sign up to everyone else as a 'approved supplier), they in turn sub it out to non approved suppliers, who take the work on by getting a small team together, mates in the Pub normally, who wouldn't know the difference between a hose pipe and a mains lead. By the time everyone has taken the workers cost added their additional 50% on top, the £2 part becomes a 300 quid per house hold bill compared to the manufacturing cost of a £60 white goods unit.

Do you remember the days of, if your TV or Radio went wrong, you take to your local repair man instead of chucking it in the skip.    :(
