Title: One for the Caravanists!
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 18 January 2016, 23:19:16
As all lorryists know, Caravanists can't reverse for toffee! (Unless they happen to be a lorryist too!)  :P  ;D  So I thought this might be of interest and it's quite funny too!  :y

So make sure you have the right glasses as the commentary is in Norge (or some other Scando lingo) and there are subtitles!  ::)

Enjoy!  :y

Never had a problem TBH, bigger the caravan and car the better though!

This combination is one in which I tend to make sure I get the navigation right. ::)

I'm sure the old lady in the Micra was impressed with its' overtaking prowess, too. :-X

No problem reversing a caravan here either, the bigger the challenge the more I enjoyed it.  :y

The worst thing I've ever tried to reverse is my little camping trailer. Can't even see it behind the Omega until it's pointing at 90 degrees to the direction of travel. ;D

I know what you mean, feels like you need a pole sticking up from it just to give you a fighting chance of knowing what it is doing.  ;D  That's where the old left/right steering wheel wiggle comes in handy, and just hope that it doesn't appear in either mirror when reversing in a straight line.  ;D

I can reverse my Swift Corniche 6 berth no problem at all, and the Lunar Delta twin axle we had before, also wasn't a problem either...

I shall away and watch the video though :)

That's different to the trailer assist link that I see at the start but I love that bit at the end where they overtake 'apparrantly going backwards'.  ;D

Must admit, I got so caught up defending my caravanning reversing prowess that I forgot to watch the video until you mentioned it.  ;D

Sod the caravans, I'll have the big Humber in the first scene! Or the Rapier a bit further on.

And who would tow a caravan with a Mini today?

Strangely enough, being a lorryist, I have no issues reversing a trailer. Now double articulate it and it becomes very "interesting" ::)

That video link didn't open for me, but I think you are being a little unfair criticising the skills of people who indulge in an activity maybe once a year, at best.....bit like sex in marriage, really!

Well OK point taken. I used to sell caravans and lived on a big site for a while, so I've always thought that they are a hardy bunch!  :y

Maybe it's just the OOF Caravanists who are a bit precious!  :P  Apologies for any offence caused chaps!  :-*
