Title: AA / RAC / Other
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 25 November 2006, 17:35:17
Anyone know?

Which is the best option......im after breakdown cover for any car i have.
Has to be allowed for cars being used as taxi's.

Last time i looked, last year.....the AA seemed the best option
RAC wanted me to join as business use and they had to know the reg no. of each car, which worked out expensive.

Only really need it for when the cars are miles away, as my local garage only charges me £20 to go recover a car with a breakdown truck if the car is local.

Cheers

I should think that the best person to ask would be...................another taxi driver! :D

Been a member of AA for 11 yrs, would recommend them, only problem is they need proper Diagnostic tools for meegas/Vx's as they did'nt identify the fault on my rpm/crank sensor on their plug and play laptop :y

Alternatively you could ask AA for his advice :y

Have to say, based on experience, the AA are excellent, and were open to some "negotiation" on price of cover too. :)

The one time I used RAC it took 4hrs for them to show up, and had to be there to give them the key.

I've been a member of Green Flag, RAC & AA and they're all as good as each other - cos I never like to bother them and usually call me dad.  ;)

Personally I'd favour the AA.

Currently I am covered by the AA through my bank, not had to call them out but my dad has always had a good word to say about them. :y

I've been an AA member for some years now and they've always been very good. Only had to use them on a couple of occassions but they've always been out pretty quick. Had a high speed front tyre blow out on the M1 a couple of years ago taking a car load of kids to Alton Towers (frightening experience) and couldn't get the wheel nuts off. Called out the AA and explained my situation and they told me I would get a priority call-out. Sure enough, they arrived within about 20 mins and promptly got me on my way. :y

I've been with the AA for years & always found them good.
IIRC they cover the driver no matter what vehicle your in.
Only got the breakdown cover, but because I don't use them that often they've given me "complimentary" home start  :)
