My 2002 2.6 V6 has developed a misfire at low revs and ECU light illuminates.Local garage has identified two problems i.e output speed sensor and coil pack for cylinder 2. They have quoted over £200 for the output sensor and its touch and go with the price of the coil pack plus labour if the car is worth repairing or be condemned to the scrapyard. Any assistance in saving the car would be appreciated.

Crank sensor is about £50+VAT from dealer, on trade. Coil pack is about £80 for a Bosch part.
Both should be fitted in under an hour.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think the garage have identified the speed sensor as the transmission output shaft speed sensor which may account for the confusion on price. Do you think they are barking up the wrong tree?

Have you done a "pedal trick"?

No 0300's? :-\
I thought P0500 was powertrain related. :-\ (would explain the sensor but not the misfire) :-\
