Just a heads up for those who could do with a new pair of blades on there omega.
I just fitted a pair of Valeo flexi aeroblades to the mig from Halfords.
A massive improvement on standard blades and after a run up the A63 @ 70 +10% ish in the rain, I can confirm they great job and don't float around :y
If your interested, the ones you need are ...............
R60 24" Halfords # 236351 £13:00 or £8:45 (with trade card)
R48 19" Halfords # 236286 £10:00 or £6:50 (with trade card)
Apparently, they don't do the Bosch pack anymore and are tending to give more discount on the Valeo brand from now.
HTH :)
-
I buy the individual Bosch Aerotwins as they work out cheaper than the twin pack anyway ;)
-
That's a sign of how shagged your old ones were ;)
Aero style are a poor 2nd on the Omega. Always have been, always will be. They are great at removing water, esp from the bottom half of the screen, but otherwise utter phish in comparison to traditional blades. I've tried Bosch, Michelin, Goodyear, Valeo and various other shite, including some from egay claiming to be made by continental ;D. Bosch do appear to have the edge due to better longevity, and stay quiet for longer.
However, aeros are a necessary evil if you're unlucky enough to have a late Elite with its over anxious, pathetic automatic wipers, as they wear the traditional blades out in weeks.
-
I need a new windscreen before changing blades.... but handy to know :y
-
The other thing, I've snapped 4 or 5 passenger side aeros now, poxy things. Downside of using them on cars not designed with aeros in mind (along with poor performance).
-
Never snapped an aero. Never had issues with quality ones. Had plenty of standard, including GM, blades not clearing properly after a very short time.
New Bosch ones on (had issues with Valeo in the past so don't trust them)... Just under £25 for the pair. New screen now rainx ed as well :y

Quite agree L.D. Since i fitted my Aero,s i,ve had no probs whatsoever :y Quiet too

Another necessary evil for aero bladed Omegas. Because Aero blades are shit. You know it, I know it, my mum's dog knows it...
-
As to life, I get about a year out of both my Omegas, one with aeros, one with traditional, both currently Bosch.
Although the Elite does wear its wipers quicker, due to those silly auto wipers.

Not needed, I choose to do it. I like the clear view produced by the beading rain water running off... I've used the stuff for years on all of my vehicles - Even my lorries and vans :y
I don't agree that the Aero blades are shit. They're different, not shit. Just newer technology ;) What is shit is the fact that they haven't come up with a better, low prifile way of mounting them as a retro fit ;)

Some conflicting views here!
On an earlier OOF recommendation, last October 1st. I purchased these:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160744738010?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D160744738010%26_rdc%3D1
They worked brilliantly well, and quietly. After 5 months of pretty grim weather, they still sweep amazingly cleanly.
At £5.50 for both sides, including postage, I am well pleased.
I agree that they are a little bulky, but I think they look quite stylish.....
Ron.

To be honest I've found the Valeo ones to last a few weeks before they start to become noisy, not a patch on the Bosch Aerotwins.

I think they're the ones that I had the driver's side one make a bid for freedom at dual carriageway speeds :-\

your just too heavy handed...

Every one I have snapped from the driver's seat ;)
Apart from one, they don't snap off and fly into the following traffic, its "spine" breaks, leaving it attached but floppy. They always snap in the same place - just outboard of the fixing, passenger side - which makes me wonder if its due to the screen shape.
I will add, I use aeros on the Zafira, and on that flatter screen, they are very good.
Its simply the Omega screen shape means they are substandard (happy, Mr Lazydocker? ;D) on Omegas, in comparison to traditionals. Remember, I am comparing like with like (having 2 Omegas), not comparing a new aero against a shagged out old blade ;)

:D :D
All down to opinion really. As you know, I have also had new GM and new Aeros very close together and I still prefer the Aeros :y
It would be boring if everyone was the same
-
Got a set of standard blades off ebay for £8 , unbranded and have been the best ive used . This is the second set ive used , usually last a good 2 yrs :y Tried the flat blades and they work for a while then they start making squeaky noises and stop clearing the screen :(
-
FICKIN WIPER BLADES,!!!! Get a life.

Sounds pricey for 2. When we had the Rover (as it was properly designed, thus all 3 blades the same length), I used to buy a pack of 10 GM ones for £20 from dealer, use 3 on the Rover, sell 1 set of 3 on egay for a tenner, and 2 sets of 2 for £7.50. So not only did I make money off the pondlife that think egay is cheap, I also got free blades for the little Rover.

coincidentally my pair arrived today and have just fitted them. £3.75 a pair yes that's £3.75 for two not each and includes delivery. from apwipers.com via ebay. the 19" one came with a spoiler which was unexpected but i transferred it to the 24". standard wipers, they look fine and fitted well i will report back on performance. perhaps not a fair test as my windscreen is old and slightly scored.
what really wears out the omega wipers i think is that the screenwash only sprays onto the screen after one dry wipe.
-
I've noticed that my passenger side wiper (ordinary wiper blades on a FL estate) occasionally catches the inner edge of the bonnet, usually when travelling at motorway pace with the wipers on full chat. Anyone else experienced this?
I know the car's never been in an accident so no way the bonnet's moved, feels like the passenger side wiper is a few mm too long maybe? but then again it came from a set that's supposed to fit the car ::).
-
Got Halfords own brand on, don't lift off at 70mph, also rain-x screen. Job done.
Use to only fit GM but haven't got a tc lokal anymore so Halfords it was, think the lord opti gets his frim ecp £2.50 pair delivered m. 8)

Either / or / and:-
Park adjustment is wrong - check the quide on here
Wiper motor bearings collapsing - too much play
Wiper arm set slightly too low - be careful repositioning it as it's possible to tangle up with the drivers side
Wiper drive rod joints are worn - You can buy new ones from Wipex, but, while they solved the problem on mine and the wipers were much more positive etc they where far to tight and when I tried to remove them to re-grease them they just snapped.

i have to report that these are great or at least the combination of the new wipers and g5 treatment. one small thing - i had to remove the spoiler from the drivers' one as at 60mph it forced the blade so hard onto the screen that it made a loud juddering noise when it changed direction at 12 o'clock position. no noise now.

So they're poor then.

no spoiler is poor, wipers fine. actually spoiler works too well. as spoiler is non standard (isn't it?) i removed spoiler - 2 screws.
