The chap who runs my local P.O regularly sends out gift boxes to Our "Lads" on active duty abroad.
I often get samples and odds n sods, like the end bits from soap loaves, cosmetics with minor damage -- and was thinking of passing them over to include in the gift boxes.
Problem is ... how many females are out in theatres of war these days ? I wouldn't like to say -- but I doubt the guys would like sweet smelling hand made soap or red lippy ::)
Can any of our members "in the know" about these things, enlighten me ?

I commend you on your endevour, having received a package at christmas I recall the lift it gave me as I tucked into my christmas dinner (a subway turkey roll) ;D ;D ;D
I seem to recall plenty of confusion in whether a box was for a female or a bloke. A simple marking of the male and female signs on the outside would do. And if you address it to 'A British Soldier' at the necessary BFPO addresses it will find its way. If you write a ficticious name it may get returned to sender not knowing that its a care package.
There are plenty of women in theatre, but from my own experiences many of the men could do with soap too!! ;D ;D ;D
Good things to send out are:
- shower gel
- socks (thick white sports socks are good no need for the expensive military or hiking socks)
- magazines
- toothpaste
- non-chocolate sweets (haribo is a favourite amoung many)
- for the womenhair clips and nets
- deoderant
- a small card with works of support and a bit about you we are genuinely interested about the people who take the time to such a kind thing; and most importantly
- a return address so we can thank you :y
Again thanks to you and those who send care packages :y

I thought postage to BFPO was free for those involved in active service.

Postage out to Iraq and Afghan is free. We have to pay to send things back to the UK and everywhere else Royal Mail fees apply
