Title: Fuel gauge issue
Post by: danzigfan on 21 February 2016, 11:13:08
Hi, guys...I recently replaced my cluster panel due to speedo/rpm not working with a cluster of ebay - the only one to match cluster serial number exactly.
Problem is fuel gauge and MID fuel left info show a bit different figures than I was used to.
On old cluster there was many miles between fuel light went off and MID started to show it's usual 50km left warning.
But on this one I get MID warning (MID is from my old panel) as soon after fuel light gets off.
I obviously don't want to try which reading is true....
Anyone knows why is this happening?
Regards Stan

Did you swap the Mid over at the same time? Could be that the Mid is from a different engine/gearbox /wheel combo...

Other reason could be that your car is an estate, and the new cluster from a Saloon or vice versa... Saloons have a slightly smaller tank which does funny things to the gauge reading ;)

Thanks mate, MID wasn't replaced , I don't know which engine/model/transmission replacement cluster came from, I thought if the serial number was the same it's going to be ok....anyway, I reset MID today and now I'm waiting to see what happens next time when fuel level drops.
