It would appear if you don't pull over for the NW police they will run you over. Granted the dog bit an officer, It was 3AM traffic would have been minimal if they wanted to they could have closed the road temporary get a dog handler unit or something to try and catch the dog.

Surely running over the dog at whatever speed they deemed fit to 'destroy' the dog humanely was a more dangerous way to go they could have lost control of the car potentially... I wouldn't like to see what the car looks like now. Probably was a BMW 3/5 series estate.

This is getting a lot of hate on social media.

Hmmm, without passing judgement as I wasn't there, I'm just wondering how you get an angry/frightened dog to stay still on the carriageway while you get back in your car and position yourself for a run-up.  :-\

Why not just stop the traffic for a brief amount of time?  The Dog was obviously terrified.

"Both officers have their own dogs and did not take this decision lightly."

I'll bet £1 to a pinch of shit that if it was their own dog, they'd not have taken that action.

Unacceptable. If it had been a cow they would have closed the road. Hope they get prosecuted!

large animals normally just meander back from whence they came when ushered, correctly.
Loose animals that are panicking are dangerous, to themselves and those trying to help.

You have a choice swerve to avoid and cause a large accident, as seen regular as car drivers do when they see a bunny whnnuy, (duck,swan, cat, dog,pheasan) or keep going, and dispatch it....
