Title: Evil Everywhere, bless them
Post by: TheBoy on 02 March 2016, 19:21:43
Got a text from EE, saying they'll be calling in a little while. On cue, they did indeed call. As a "loyal customer", they had some great, unbeatable deals for me...

EE: "I see you mostly used data and texts"
Me: "That's correct, I probably only use 90 mins a month on average"
EE: "I've checked you're account, and see that you are paying £10/month, and getting 250mins, unlimited texts and 3Gb data?"
Me: "Sounds about right"
EE: "Well, we can beat that I'm sure, can you hold?"
Me: "Certainly"
.....
EE: "I can offer you 1000mins, unlimited text and 1Gb data for only £11.99, do you want to set it up now?"
<Silence followed by the sound of TB's head repeatedly banging the desk>

Oh dear. bless them.

I still have an O2 (Well 'twas BT Cellnet way back then), Pay Upfront For Life Sim in the telematics. never have to pay any money and 50 mins of O2 to O2 calls a month which works well as we haven't used the landline here for five years and all have O2 mobiles!

Only wish I had a couple more for the other cars.

Is 1Gb bigger than 3Gb then?  ::)

So you went for his offer then.  ;D

Translation:

3Gb at £10 is losing us money so please move to this other package with less data so we can make some money off you.

If your contract is up or coming to a close, then Retention Dept is the only way to go, problem is to talk to them you have to convince them your off else where.

Both my deals are currently set through Retention, EE, 2000 Mins, Unlimited Text and Unlimited Data £14 (T Mobile Plan) and my main Number, Vodafone, Unlimited Mins and Text with 4gb Data, £8.00.

Its a 30 day contract, so its always up.  But until such time as something better comes along, its fine.

My self and Swmbo both have ee accounts for our mobiles I have lost count of the times they have rung us telling us they can give us better broad band then they go through it all and find out there is no cable in the village still and they can't actually beat the deal we are on , we don't want iPads or iPhones from them we are stuck in the phone contract with them so they can't change that l

Likewise... I could really use a new phone, but unless I buy it myself and swap the sim cards over, I lose my deal, which is similar to Zirks, but includes the phone payments... so is more expensive... it is still half the price of the closest Eeee contract (in data terms and still 20gb rather than unlimited) though, so hardly a rough deal ;)

If your doing the 30 Day thing, but fancy a tad more more Data, ID Mobile do a 30 Day Sim on a 4G Data Plan. 500M, 5000T and 4GB Data for 10 Quid a month..

Cant remember which Network they Use on that one could be EE or Three, so coverage dependent.

Looking at the info and coverage, I would say Three ;)

But as they are associated with Carphone Whorehouse I wouldn't have anything to do with them if they were the last company on earth!!

I went through retention dept on Orange and they could not do me a deal and i have been with them for approx 15 years so ditched them, Usually they phone me within a couple of days and offer me  a fantastic deal so they say.

I opted for 3. Took out a contract for £18 per month, cancelled the next day and said i could get it cheaper, Ok we will beat it they said, Same contract for £14 per month, Saving of £4 per month from one ay to the next, Happy days.

I did the same with all my utilities all in one day and saved £63 per month, Still have more to do.

Wish I hadn't posted this up now,  ::) just had a call from EE telling me I would need to upgrade to an EE plan, as Im currently on an old T Mobile Plan and there not playing that game anymore. She went through the motions and tried to palm me off with a simple EE plan worth 14 quid with hardly any Data on it, dont think She realized I had Unlimited Data.  >:(

Having looked into the Data side, she come back and offered me 50gb for a discounted £49.99pm .  :(, not something thats on the there Price List, but something she pulled out of a Hat so to speak, not happy I asked to speak to someone in Retention.

Having spoke to the Guy in Retention, He offered me 50gb EE Data deal for 29.60, when asked why I couldn't keep the unlimited Data plan, he replied, you can, its just that we cant give you the discount on T Mobile plans anymore (apparently, Ive been on a -£8 discount for the last 4 years) so the plan will go up from 14 to 21.99 if I stay on the Unlimited Plan.

So, Mr B, just to remind you once you come off your T Mobile Plan you wont be able to go back on it, so should I put you on the new EE 50gb for 29.60pm, He asked?, Sorry, I replied,  just remind me again why I would want to pay 29.60 for 50gb, when I can stay on an Unlimited Plan for 21.99??. so He kinda laughed, and said thats fine, you wont need to do anything, just stay as you are then.  ::)

I've been a very long standing 15+ years Orange customer with 3 phones - down to the last one now and about to shift that. Since the change to EE I've had appalling service from them, which is a real shame as the product is good. I just can't cope with the hassle anymore!
