iPad mini 16gb used from CEX is £172 grade A, which is boxed, with accessories, only minor cosmetic marks. And (importantly) a 1 yr warranty

Potential option depending on how much he wants an apple vs "something new".

The cheaper Android will all be hampered in some way.

Apple expensive new. In that price range, 2nd hand will be getting EOSL with no further security updates.

Surface expensive, and probably still a bit too niche at the moment.

You'll need to sit down at work out exactly where you are prepared to compromise, sorry.

(And this is why I don't have a modern tablet, just a couple of HP ones when the SAP idiot buggered up HP, and they sold them to staff cheap - obviously now WebOS is dead, they now run Android...  ...but I still never use them)

Have a look at a Lenovo, I haven't got one, but a friend has, I was quite impressed.

It was running Android.

Tesco started off well with the Hudl2, it's a good device. But screwed it up really, I think because Tesco canned the project.

They have started rolling out the 5.0 Lollypop update to the Hudl2's but they seriously cocked up the implementation, I think only around 75% of the Hudl2's will actually get it. As they will stop the rollout because they basically shut down the entire team.

That's as good as any for around that price. You won't find that much difference betweenany of the ones running android, as long as they are modern and not dirt cheap.

Yes seems ok doesn't it , unless anyone has a poor review of it?
In stock at local store so may give it a go.
