Title: One down, seven to go
Post by: terry paget on 16 March 2016, 17:13:42
Today X168 passed MOT, 2 advisories, oil leak and chip on screen. Only seven more cars to get through this year. I find this challenging.
I depict below my two 2000 2.5 petrol manual CDX estates. X168 (£302, 165K miles) is a MFL and V828 (£257, 162K) a PFL, is booked for MOT next Wednesday. I prefer the PFL radio, with its 6CD magazine with random play mode, and its black bumpers, which do not show minor dings. For 16 year old cars they have worn well; they both are delightful to drive, quiet, luxurious, fast and reliable. Neither is showing any rust in the rear wheel arches yet.

Terry I take my hat off to you. There ought to be some annual OOF awards

Like. To the service of keeping a fleet on the road, Terry Paget.

Are those prices in brackets before the mileage what you paid for them?

Is X168 not a facelift? Albeit a 2.5 yr2000.

I always thought PFL was the old shape with push button A/C (as opposed to turn knobs, amongst other things), correct me if I'm wrong.

Lovely looking cars BTW.....  mine is X127, so they probably saw each other on the production line!

I understand the Omegas with the new body shape but the old engines (2.0,.2.5 and 3.0), throttle cables, AIVCs, more emission control devices and higher compression ratios, were  designated mini face lifts (MFL), and the later 2.2, 2.6 and 3.2 powered units were full face lifts (FL). This makes X168 a MFL.

Prefacelift is '93L to '97R
Midfacelift is '97R to'00V both have grill in bumper and black/chrome finished bumpers.
Facelift is '00V to end. All have grill in bumper and dual zone climate control.

Good effort whatever age :y

Please assure Mrs. Terbert that these cars are not my playthings, I just mend them and MOT them. In this pic are 6 Omegas (plus 2 wrecks on the lawn awaiting stripping and disposal) and 7 Paget drivers. Emma's Rover is absent. I spend all my spare time mending them. That's why Mrs. P looks grumpy.

You approached that wrong Tony, what you should have done was show her the post next time she mentioned your three, and suggested that you could be worse!

Today V828 passed MOT, no advisory notes. Now two down six to go.
MOT history was
23 3 2016 162543 miles
22 4 2015 154125 miles
06 1 2006 106854 miles
Looks like it spent 9 years in Portugal, like the vendor said.

Thank you. Yes, it's a great feeling.
Next two are not Omegas, they are my sister's Vauxhall Meriva and my daughter-in-law's Rover Streetwise, both due in April. Could be tricky.

Lots of room left for more Omegas,it would be rude not to fill in the gaps :)
