2000 2.5 petrol manual estate
This car is due MOT next Wednesday. I see the draincock is leaking coolant. I have it out, but it looks all right. Upper O ring looks deformed. I can put in new O rings and hope. Any more suggestions? Pic follows.

Thanks. I hve just measured the O-ring groove diameters; inside one is 5.6mm, outer is 7.0mm. When I reassembled after the clutch change I think I put in 2 O-rings of the same size, F-04, from my Clarke O-ring set, both F-04 listed as 7mm I/D. The grooves looked the same. This time I will put an F-03 ring (ID 5mm) on the inside groove and an F-04 on the outer.

Yes. Those 2 prongs in the pic hold it in.

Fluid leaks can be advisories if significant/obvious.

My local Tester made a point of telling me it driped in his eye when doing a underneath inspection. :-X
Wasn't a happy bunny for about 20 mins, :(
Still passed it though. :)

Good news - after a 20 miles run there is no leak from the draincock. So the smaller O-ring has done the trick/

Had a rad let go halfway through a test on a 2.8 Granada bought for £100. Tester was less than impressed and ripped it to shreds ;D

As a heating engineer not in any way a car mechanic looking at your photo boilers have similar parts take it to a plumbing merchant they will have complete sets of O rings you can buy separately replace them with the correct size and at the same time buy some silicone grease use this liberally on orange and shaft this will also help with the seal.

I'm having same problem. I attempted to change entire plug, as O-rings not available at dealer, which turned it from a weep to a flow ;D
Need to get the right sized O-rings from somewhere ;D

Mine had a slight drip and mr DTM gave me two sets of two different sizes.....It was the bigger one ;D ;D
He's got tons of them in his garage :y

Bet your new plug was a black one Jaime - if so its slightly different in design to the original orange one, and when fitted will leak like a sieve. Trick is fit the o-rings from the black one to the orange one, refit orange one and voila no leak :y

It was black, and it did leak like a bitch. Will swap O-rings over next time I have a spare set of hands available (as its all new antifreeze)
