After a couple of failed plans to get timing belt fitted, one garage agreed to do job but then blew the idea by telling me they didn't need to use locking kit!!!! I decided to get in touch with a mobile mechanic and after a brief exchange with tigers-gonads I contacted DLK.TG and I shared his expenses and so this morning both guys turned up here.A real pleasure to meet them both, and now I know that timing belt kit[and as DLK said he preferred to do both items at the same time a new water pump]has not only been fitted but fitted properly :y The only "evidence I have of it being done in the past was tippex writing under the bonnet giving a mileage of 77thousand odd-it's now on 135,271-which from paperwork I have would make it 2007/8 when last done ::)
As said genuine pleasure to meet both guys, and much appreciation to DLK for putting up with not only rain but my poor hosting skills! Not much more to be done now before hopefully car is as reliable as can reasonably be expected of any car.

Daz likes going to places like Scunny, it's makes Stoke seem a bit less shitty when he gets home. :)
-
It's the only advantage to living here.It makes any other place you go a veritable utopia :D Yes even Barnsley :o :o ;D
-
The mad one from Stoke will, as I'm sure you saw, do a top notch job on that engine. Far better, IMHO, than what most garages and dealers would, and I suspect at a very realistic price :y
A bit :y for Darth Loo-knee.

Yes it was quite amazing to see him at work and even taking his time/travel costs into account price wise he was very reasonable indeed.Top bloke all round :y
-
Great to meet you Mark and see yeh ugly mug again Daz ;D ;D
You just can't fault the mad man from Stoke's work :y ;D
Cracking job as always :y :y
Cheers mate :)

When Daz was setting mine to tdc or whatever prior to removing old belt/kit he found the timing slightly out on both banks :o At least it's now spot on so all's good in that dept.

Still trying to sort out a time to get this manual conversion done too mine.
Depending on how long I have to wait will decide on whether I bother or not ;)
Oh while I remember ...................
Was that you in a pfl (with fl bits) that got blew away by a vastly superior blue 3.2 estate last Thursday down St Peters Ave about 12 noon ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D
A pint or 2 sounds great mate
Drag Jonathan (jonnyboyws6) out too :y

My 2,4,6 bank was out too Mark
Must say, I did about a extra 10 miles out of that last tank of lpg compared to what I normally get on a run :-\
Noticed that when lifting off the gas and just rolling along (which granted isn't very often ::)) the CID instant mpg is dropping off to 999 mpg faster and more often too ;)
Car is definitely idling better :y

You were about twenty foot from our house and private parking space round the back :)
Give us a shout if you're this side of the water, next time, and we'll sort you out. We have a toilet, too ;)
