Two cars in two weeks have failed. Last week it was the Vectra, failed on ball joints and rear brakes.
This week Oscar failed and it's not looking good at all. So I nipped to the shop, bought a couple of sidelight bulbs and went back to get my pass certificate! :y I bought this car just over a year ago for £230, it has just sailed through it's second MOT in my ownership. This car is truly a legend.

The lesson is - always do a cursory walkround before you take it to the MoT station. Proper car though!

I used to do that, but I quickly realised it was pointless. I could and used to spend a lot second guessing what they'd fail it on. Now I stick them in 'as is' and then decide if it's worth repairing.
EDIT - This is post 666 :o

Or if its like mine, it blows a bulb WHILE ON TEST, just to spite me ::) ;D

I went one further with a Saab I took down, that popped a brake pipe whilst on the rollers. Whoops. I wasn't popular.

You should have followed OOF advice, and just scraped and greased your brake pipes :y
