Title: Slight oil leak under cambelt area.

Mmmm now that I have a lovely smooth gearbox im wondering where this slight oil leak is coming from. It appears to be coming from underneath the cambelt area. I've only in the last few weeks had a new cambelt kit and oil pressure switch. There is a mixture of old oil and a little fresh oil mixed in.

Usual suspect is the plastic cam cover gasket or the half moon at the back of the camcover seal.

Try running a clean peice of kitchen tissue along the edge of the black plastic cam cover and head and see if any fresh oil is evident,if so either remove cover and replace gasket or if still pliable just clean and refit with new sealant in correct areas as per guide and only tighten bolts as per spec 8nm

Cheers. I should have said also had cam cover gaskets replaced last month.

If it's not coming from higher up, the front crank seal is another suspect. I never have to top mine up between oil changes but when mine was stood idle for a few days I did notice a slight dribble in that area. Since its been in constant use again there is just a light mist of oil in that area.

It doesn't leak when the car is sat at idle. Just been on for 30 minutes. Been for a 5 minute drive and now there is oil on top of the sump again? ::)

Crank seal. Cheap to buy, might add 15 minutes to a cambelt change if you already have some way to hold the crank still and pull the pulley off.

I had a td with an oil leak similar to that an tried some winns oil leak stop stuff, it did work for a while.

You don't want the oil to contaminate the belt, it will degrade it.

That crank pulley doesn't look like a 2.6 / 3.2 one... looks more like the one off a 2.5 / 3.0
