Title: Curry houses
Post by: BazaJT on 24 April 2016, 12:55:31
A report out seems to suggest that up to a third of curry houses could close down. From a personal viewpoint they could close them all as I wouldn't even feed that stuff to the dog let alone eat it myself.Thought report may be of interest to all you curry lovers out there.

There are far too many IMHO. Places like Brakkers have no/limited choices for other eat-in restuarants.

Now don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a Ruby, but sometimes you just fancy something else like a juicy steak.

Ignoring pubs (who frequently can't do decent food, but feel they can charge through the nose for it), if you want a sit down meal in Brakkers, its a choice of 6 curry houses or an Italian. I'd gladly see 3 or 4 of them close, and other options, such as Chinese and Steakhouse open in their place.

Love curry.

We've got a right old mix of places though. One charges the earth and the one I mainly go to costs around £10 for lamb buna, pilau rice, 3 chapatis, Bombay aloo and don't mock but I like a portion of fries with mine  ;D oh and 2 popadums

A bit of a mix here.Mainly curry houses I admit, but there's a couple of Italian places and a good few Chinese[mainly Cantonese] along with a good number of pubs serving food. That's not including the takeaway places.

Opps, I forgot the Diner. That's a sit down place, serving the usual you'd expect from an American themed Diner.

Similar problem around these parts
Plenty of Curry / Chinese restaurants, the odd Italian but as far as I know, not 1 dedicated Steak house  :(
In fact, about the only place you can get a steak around here is at one of the sizzler type franchises which tend to be shite  :(

If your ever down Skegness way, try this place .............
http://steaknstuff.co.uk/

But trust me, they kick you out after about 22:30  :(
The kitchen is at the back of the eating area so you see your steak been cooked while you chucking alcohol down your neck  :D
Also you must book because you are crammed in and its not very large  :(

The food is gorgeous though  :y :y

It is a very good Italian in Brakkers though :y

That said, the curry isn't bad either... Eaten in 2 of them and both passed muster :y Mind you... Tiffins is most definitely the superior of the 2 and I've had many a good evening there eating crisps and salad :-X ::)

Racking my poor brains as to when you would have been to the Italian, assuming I was invited :P.

Despite my one man boycott of Tiffins - I blame them for my recent bout of death - I'm contemplating picking up the phone to see if they will deliver a nice Sheep Naga.  I need to sort something as Mrs TB is too broken to cook or go out.

Went to the Italian after a fairly boozy afternoon sampling a rather fine selection of ales  ;)

As for boycotting Tiffins... We both know it isn't going to last. In fact, even the dog knows it  :D

Ah, yes. Beer festival? Yes, vaguely recall, bit hazy though...

Was that the night Rik tried to convince us that Omegas should be manual?

That year was a bit of a disappointment, due to the way they put fences up, and the music was too loud for the small area :(. I had a thumping headache, and it wasn't the beer.

Its now in the park, which is much better, more room (though still gets crowded).

Yes... Great beer but it was a bit on the noisy side!

A few years back now too ::)
