Title: Compressor for shocks Monza stealing amps
Post by: MonzaGSE on 24 April 2016, 14:33:37
Hi. I have got an Opel Monza GSE 86. With 3,0E. My problem is that its not often used, and the battery goes flat in just a couple of days. Measured with a multimeter and current drain after a couple of seconds stabilized on 0,05 amps. But after about 10 seconds there is a click (like a relay) in the compressor for the self leveling system and the current drain jumps to 0,5 amps and remains there. When i unplug the SL compressor drain falls back down to 0,05 amps. Im asking here because i assume the Monza self leveling system is similar to the one in the Omega. Do you think i need to get a new compressor or am i looking for a wiring issue? Compressor runs as it should when ignition turned on. And current drain measurements is done with ignition of and all lights off.

On an Omega, the self levelling is turned off when the ignition is off.

Should that be the case on the Monza?

Yes. Its off whith ignition off. It doesnt run or anything. From what i've experienced the system works exactly like the Omega one. But for some reason the compressor draws 0,5 amps constantly with ignition off. Sounds like some internal relay is triggered.
