Title: Oil filters where's me VOF 93??
Post by: Diamond Black Geezer on 27 April 2016, 16:11:01
93156954 VOF 93 is now replaced with

95509857 which is termed a 'longlife' filter. Huh? Doesn anyone know what they mean by 'longlife', and what the recommended intervals for this is, then?

Though I can see the sense in such a device, given that I'm ideally changing my oil every 6 months anyway, I don't really need, or care about a 'longlife' filter for more money. Unless someone can safely say that I'm fine leaving this is once every other oil change, for instance?  :-\

Mountain and mole-hill,  :)

Same filter just rebranded to keep tree huggers happy.

Won't make any difference to me as oil filters generally turn out to have a long life anyway!  :o  ::)  ;D

haha. So basically same filter, 2.6 times the price, called 'save the whales' and still replace every oil change, yeah?

dear, oh dear, Luton...

If it's the spin on canister why not get a longer one that's used on diesels then it will be longlife or every second interval

False economy.

Ah have but it will have slightly raised capacity to compensate for the extra interval

You'll also have a small collection of iron filings to make pretty pictures with

All pretty irrelevant if you change it every 5-10k miles ???

Only noticeable difference would be the extra cost...

A longer filter body might make it easier to fit/remove, but then again, unless you have already done the spin on conversion or own an earlier car, you won't be able to fit the larger filter anyway ::)

You can't say that here!! The use of pattern parts will bring about TEOTWAWKI, and it will be your fault.
