Hi All, I have just purchased my second 3.2 MV6 but have found the brakes lacking, my first one is an ex police car and stops with ease, can anyone advise me on how I can upgrade the brakes on my latest purchase.

monaro/gto calipers streight bolt in to omega discs they twin pot
not sure what budget you got there for conversion ?

If the first one was standard(as a police car it would have been) and stopped OK, then surely all you need to do is bring the new one up to the same spec? Which is mainly a matter of using a brand of brake pad that better suits your driving style. That's a subjective requirement, that will get a whole load of utterly conflicting answers. To start you off, I couldn't tell you what is in mine as they were fitted some months before I bought it over five years and 45,000 miles ago.

Best budget brakes are GM pads n discs. Then next up is the monaro/gto caliper upgrade.
Also a fluid change is also a good upgrade.
New flexible hoses too.

As said above replace fluid then gm disc and pads. If still not good enough you can do a mini upgrade which is the route i went. Front are 2004 pontiac gto calipers twins gm discs the rears are gm discs and pads. Or you can go for the full monty like a couple of members on here. All depends on driving style and budget.

Fluid is first point of call... I boiled the fluid on my current car on the test drive :o ::)
Then, as said, discs and pads will likely see it all good again :y
