Title: Car Insurance Time Again
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 30 April 2016, 10:47:40
Not due till 19th May.

1st price given£547.66
Covers 2.2 2003
3.0 Elite 1999

Be interesting to see where the the final price ends up.

The thing that has pi**ed me off on the 1st page is that on 1/11/15 that Insurance Premium Tax was raised from 6% to 9.5%

Can't really blame insurance co for that, its simply another tax to help to government try to get nearer to balancing the books.

Insurance companies, have got all the flood damage to cover, plus all the management company's that phone you up to handle your claim, then there's the "had an accident'not your fault"
You wouldn't want them to put house insurance up now would you ::)

Probably unfair. Too many spongers and not enough rich people to pay for it all, which means those inbetween get hit hard.

I've been hit because one of my employees had a bump last year. So, only 2 years no claims to carry on to a new policy but £1650 Fully Comp for any vehicle, both SWMBO and I as drivers with full "Other Business" use as well :y

I use http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/theboy as they make most sense for my buying pattern, and completely free (if you pick right options)

Anyone using link above, I get a fiver, you get a fiver (once you've saved £5)

Just had the renewal through for the Jag - gone up from £500 last year to £630 this year.  Done a bit of investigation and got 6 quotes from well known companies in the range £300 -£320 for exactly same level of cover, excesses and exec courtesy car etc.  Whats really peed me off is that my current insurer quoted me just under £500 for same cover etc as a new customer!!  They really try to generate an ethos of ongoing business!!  ::)  Cheapest quote was from Swintons @ £205  ;D ;D ;D , bargepoles spring to mind ???

SWMBOs insurance renewal for the Estate is also coming up soon - that'll be more due to a slight coming together of her front bumper and someone elses rear bumper.  Very minor knock, all handled ok by insurance at other party's insistance as slight scratch on her rear bumper.  Dent in SWMBOs Omega bumper we fixed with heat gun!  But will look around for better quotes for hers too.

I use Topcashback also, and have just signed up for Quidco as well, who offer cashback on groceries as well! After my pessimistic comment about Ins Co's delaying payments, I am delighted to see that having only renewed yesterday, Aviva have approved the £63, which will be paid in 13 weeks. 8) Still waiting for a similar payment on SWMBO's Ins from January, Co-op Ins. >:(
I am surprised how few people use these sites, well in my age group anyway, if people offer me money for nothing, Yes please! :y

I use Quidco. I got caught out by the one that went under a few years back and switched to Quidco then. Never had a problem and am even a premium (paid) member this year as I got more cash back in a single transaction than it cost :y normally get a few hundred pounds per year from them :y

I use topcash back, there is a but when insuring a car, sometimes it's cheaper to insure thro the likes of merkats, or that robot, as the cashback sites bumb the price to get the cash back.

Eg quote from top cashback £250 + £50 cash back  so your getting £50 of your own money back, then go to merkats same product £200 no cash back,
 just saying be-careful

Seems I hadhopened an accouct ages ago but never used it. :-\

Problem I seem to be having is that the cashback system is for new accounts that are opened, and not for existing ones, or am i looking into it the wrong way. :-\
